A 250 clutch is smaller in diameter by an inch or so.
1. What happens to your primary gearing?
2. What happens to your primary chain length?
A B50 BSA uses the same clutch. The clutch is barely up to the job on a good day in one of these.
It's your bike, fuss with it till you figure it all out if you want. My guess is that by the time you get it to function, you'll have missed out on a lot of riding.
