With the steel braided lines under the bike, they get oil and road crud build-up on them that is difficult to keep clean. The crud gets between all of the braid wires and takes a toothbrush or similar to clean it.
Uncoated braided stainless hose acts like a hacksaw blade with a vibrating engine on anything it touches, so either use coated hose or route very carefully. The clamps work well and give a neat look to the cut ends of the pipe.
