I’ll let you know the outcome. Just wire wheeled the rust, treated with naval jelly and two coats of Dupli-Color Rust Barrier (seals corrosion flexible rubberized finish).
Masked off the wheel with tape and old Manila folders I had lying around.
A bit Rube Goldberg, but the job’s a good ‘un! Good for another 43 years!
duct tape has always worked for me. clean the inside of the rim, use two wraps, maybe a third short piece for extra thickness where the old rim lock holes are.
