This wasn't quite in the schedule, but some offers can't be refused.

At this stage, it's still a matter of sorting out the parts and finding what needs yet more money spent, but it's different enough to post a few teaser pictures.

I have my own stalled projects, most involving welding or machining I'm not quite game to tackle.

This one is in the "early enthusiasm" stage, but I need to hold my horses until the 1965 Rocket is finished.

The previous owner allowed himself to be lured away by Triumphs, both Meriden and Hinkley.

Yeah, it is nice. It was a UK bike, so will be going back together with the 5 gallon tank.
Most of the work had been done some time back, including a really nice paint job on the painted parts.

It's supposed to be.
The bottom end was rebuilt by Devimead, and he thinks it was balanced for the 750 top end. That's probably right, because it has been converted to 3/8" cylinder studs.

It's not everybody who can say they're assembling a Spitfire with genuine new Devimead parts.

In some ways it's a bummer to have to strip an unused, assembled bottom end, but the seals will have hardened and the bearings might have some rust after 40 years.

It's a cruddy day today, so I've been digging in the shed looking for parts for the Spitfire instead of working on the project I should be finishing off.

Anyway, some of the parts have been ordered, some soon will be, and some were already in the shed.

The current First World Problem is whether to use the new reproduction A65 mufflers which were hiding in the shed, or the reproduction long taper Decibels which were hiding alongside them? The Decibels are currently the front runners, since it won't be quite catalogue spec anyway.
