Danilo, do you happen to have specs on that Mikuni that's on the Venom?
Mikuni model number, Bore dia, (28mm? 30mm?) and jetting.

Just acquired this, a '39 MOV. A little untidy around the edges and not quite original in places (it's been around for 83 years so not really surprising). Does still have the same engine, gearbox and frame it started life with however and that's nice to know.

Looks pretty close to original and a great little toy to play with. A 'peppy' little ride I reckon. No resto required, just a bit of fettling eh? Super!

Here's my '61 Endurance (street scrambler), Venom spec motor. Top end has been rebuilt with new Harley piston, valves, guides, seals. E-ignition in magneto, rebuilt dynamo, Thurston belt drive clutch. Forks and swingarm trunion rebuilt as well. Aluminum rims to be laced up this winter

No it won't but I left the bike as it was found. Like the sags and wrinkles- kinda like me. Got plenty of bikes that are "pretty"

Any chance of a two-stroke photo? I’m very partial to early two-strokes (bit obvious from the nom de plume) and Vélo made some real sweeties.
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen even a GTP in the flesh but compared to the earlier sweeties the GTP is common.

Hopefully someone can oblige.

When I was running around with the 'Eynsford lads' in the early sixties meeting up mainly at Johnson's Caff near Brands on the A20, we had some 2-strokes.
I always fancied the Ariel Arrows. Mucker had a weirdly quick Zundapp 197 which ate Villers twins for lunch. Best mate (still after all these years) Fordy had a nice Sun 'Overlander' 250 Villiers twin which went well. They might not sound that cool like Goldies or Velos, but we were wringing the necks out of these 2-strokes around twisty narrow country lanes. They certainly felt quick enough!

That sort of British lightweight didn’t really get out to OZ. By that time the Japanese firms were working hard coming in to the OZ market and the Brits were working hard at throwing it away.

In 1959 I saw a solitary ‘demo’ Ariel Leader in Finlay’s showroom in Elizabeth Street. Even brand new it looked shabby and cheap compared to the various Japanese makes that were appearing up and down the street in the other showrooms. The basic design may have been good but the makers seemed to have gone out of their way to make it look cheap. No wonder they never sold out here.

It’s the early two-strokes I find fascinating. The vintage era. Proper vintage, that is and Velo’s made some really interesting bikes back then. Not much horsepower but their horses had very thick and hairy legs. That’s why I’m keen on a photo or two.

I remember Moon Eyes Cooper very well.
He came from Derby and his local short circuit was Mallory Park.
Mallory Park was my local short circuit too so I saw him there many many times.
In particular I remember him on the BSA triple beating Agostini on the MV GP bike in the Race of the Year.
About 50,000 fans cheering him on!
