Hi all I just bought a Triumph Tiger Cub 1955/66 which at low revs, stalls when I blip the throttle at traffic lights. I has Electrex world ignition and and old 376/272 Monoblock carb. I've been advised to put an AMAL 600 Concentric 24mm on it to get a smooth tick-over and good pickup. Has anyone else got a AMAL 600 on their Cub? I want to do some trials riding with it once it's registered for the road. Any help/advice is appreciated. Bob

I’ve heard unhappy reports about Electrex Workd.

Mine still uses the older 376/272 and its fine, revs and idles etc without an issue. Only problem is it won't start on the sidestand, has to be upright. But once going there is no problem.

It doesn't sound like ignition problems (do they ever?) but I'd be checking for fuel level in the float chamber, wear on the carb slide and all the usual suspects on the existing carb before throwing out money on a new carb. BTW. I installed Electrex World ignition on a trials BSA which proved exellent, you can only go by your own experience, even if the occasional forum flag raises a question.

Try raising the RPM level at idle ... the Electrolux ignition is rpm dependent

I had similar symptoms on a BSA twin that I had tuned with a ColorTune. I found that ignoring the ColorTune and richening up the mixture screw at idle got rid of the problem.

Yes I've done all of the usual tricks with the air mixture and adjusted to a faster tick-over but still has the low rev stall at the lights. I have an AMAL 600 Premier Concentric Mk1 on it's way to me, which I'm told the trials guys like because of stalling issues. I'll give it a go when it arrives and report back.

AMAL Premier 600 installed and hey presto, the bike now runs perfect, no issues what so ever. Thanks all.

Good to get a good result. Interestingly, nobody suggested what turned out to be the solution!
If anything other than a blank space is visible here, something's wrong.

I had suggested trying to fix the Monobloc first, paying for a new carb is a quick fix, if you are lucky enough to get the jetting right first time. Fortunately, Burlen ( AMAL) are very helpful that way, as are some of their dealers.

376 might be too big if you have a standard cam, but OK if you have the R cam. 376/272 is correct for a T20SS/ SL etc Sports Cub. Otherwise go to a 375 or 622 (standard cam)
