I might have to get a griddle for the grill and do a repeat of the pancake breakfast.
Buttermilk pancakes were Mr Ben’s favorites…. that’s where I got the idea.
Just need someone who knows how to handle/cook a BUNCH of them at the same time…..from what I’ve experienced that’s not an easy task. Feeding 3-5 folks turns into a completely different dynamic when it’s 15-20 hungry people.
BUT……I used to go with Mr Ben to the church (heaven forbid) at Mid-Ohio that would put on the all you can eat pancake breakfast. Never saw the kitchen but those folks could produce….so it can be done.

There were 100 camping spaces in the "family camping" area........I drove into the facility that Thursday with 33 camping passes and 4 RV spots. With the help from a young man from corporate we had that same "base camp" spot for 6-7 years in a row. (that wasn't just luck) We were at a point where the track was offering us a location in the infield for the next year.....we were going to be one of the attractions.
We ran out of food at out cookout/bike show......we fed over 125 people that year.
Things were going to change......to be honest it had gotten too big. If it wasn't for the help from the Carter brothers I'd never made it that last year. We roped off our camping spots and for a couple of days fought to keep them available for our campers. In the end we had over 35 campers all in one area.......but that didn't come easy.
A Norton owners club contacted me and wanted to join us the next year.
We had a good long run.........the first years were truly magical. Folks off the board meeting face to face for the first time.....it's what it was all about.

My all time favorite Brit Bike Event is Mike Gordon's OSMR........hands down.
The people, area, lodging, riding and food........it just doesn't get much better. I've always been able to "kinda" keep up on the ride.....been there on three different bikes.
Rode up from North Carolina 3 times, once on my '67 B44R, then again the next year with the chair attached. The "avoid highways" route up and back is amazing.
to be continued

What was your approximate "avoid highways" route through Virginia? Probably just missed passing me somewhere; I'm a highway avoider too.
Lannis
Lannis I have that route around here somewhere but I don't remember where I stashed that stuff. BUT........maybe highways 100 and 52 mostly???? Through Va.
I had ridden it enough that I had some favorite spots along the way.......there's this switchback curve in the country that had hay fields on both sides.....if they just cut the hay......the aroma is amazing!!!!
Then there's those wind turbines in WV.......your climbing a long steep grade. Turbines are probably 250' or better in the air but you get up to where you're just about level with the blades. IF you watch the blades turning......for a bit too long when you turn your attention back to the road.....you get this illusion the road is wavy!!!! Like your on an asphalt ocean. First time I experienced that it spooked me pretty good.
I'll never forget at a fill up along the way a local walked up to me and asked "Where ya from?" I told him NC and he asked " You rode THAT all the way from NC?".......I laughed and said....Well yea and I'm going to have to ride it all the way back.

Yea I figure it was going to be risky that time of year. Weather wise. We just missed the rain.
But when trying to plan an event…….all the better dates are already taken. I picked the TSMR’s date as early as possible ( and we still saw ice) so as not to interfere with the other vintage events going on.
The “Beach” thing was a one and done deal…….I’m finally out of event planning.
It was a good long run with lots of fond memories.
All I remember is a good time .. So was Suches and every OSMR and TSMR and Mid Ohio and OVBSA events..... In fact Ive never had a bad time hanging out with any of you lot...

I guess for total number of forum members attending…..the TSMR has been the most attended event.
As far as I know it was the first……Mid-Ohio came shortly after.
There had always been a get together of sorts at the OVBSAOC’s but I don’t remember folks actually talking/planning anything until later on. The Hillbilly Convention Center.
The BIBR event was building as a bb.com get together ……..great event IMO…. and then they moved and IMO it went downhill after that. Folks still get together but in limited numbers.
Been a good long run with lots of fond memories
25th Anniversary of the TSMR coming up this May…….everyone is welcome. Check out the TSMR forum for details.
richrd started this thread to help promote the upcoming TSMR. Some folks don’t check into other boards and apparently don’t use the useful “Active Threads “ option to keep up with what’s being talked about.

You call that a switchback? This is a switchback.
David…..yea switchback probably isn’t the best description of that section of 219. Last time I rode through there was 2014???? But that road is pretty much a straight shot UNTIL that section and it changes directions in that one spot and never again. (at least not like that) First time I went through there they had just cut hay……I’ve smelled fresh cut grass before but nothing as amazing as that stuff. That photo was taken on my way back from the second time I went through there.
Now my favorite switchback is the one on the Goat Path. Three levels of road in 100’ of horizontal distance. I tried for years to get a photo of our bikes going through it……the property changed hands several times the past 25 years….some owners were not happy when I’d stop and ask if I could set up a camera in that curve. Tried to get richrd to get some the year he rode around taking pics but he didn’t realize where I was talking about.
I’ll try my best to get a photo of it this year. It looks like yours but has one more turn in it.

I set up there the year I bought Mr. Mikes bike. the owner was working in the gargage doing some remodel work. The timing didn't work and there was no where to stand to catch the bottom tier plus too much brush. but I did try.

That’s the spot…….24 years and nobody’s got a photo of the ride coming through there?

Surely you posted them already and I've just forgotten it. You are 100% correct though.....only a couple of spots you can set up to catch all three levels of bikes...clearly.
There's another one that's bigger out on 58........that's where I mis-shifted last year and slid a tire. Keeps ya on your toes.
It is pretty GREEN out here in May
There's some strange characters in attendance some years.......most years
