The alloy tanks I bought were more likely made by the process you describe - single workers with big blocks of wood and mallets. The upper parts of my tanks were hand-beaten: the metalworker who fixed the bad one for me could see exactly how they'd been made when he had the bottom off. He was impressed with the skill (and as perplexed as I was about the badly made tunnel). He knows his stuff - makes and repairs brass musical instruments among many other things, and doesn't offer such praise lightly.

Personally, I don't feel like paying for special membership simply because I already give to various causes and memberships. Not being wealthy by a very long shot, I need to exercise care where paying subs is concerned. It doesn't mean I don't appreciate the work Morgan (and others?) put into keeping this forum going - it just that contributing cash isn't near the top of my list of priorities.

Tigernuts- In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with that as long as you are not moaning about why you can't have full privileges, on-site storage of photos, etc with your "free" account.

But when people complain that they can't do everything everyone else does but don't want to pay for the service, it's like when a bunch of guys go to a restaurant or pub, and one man says "Give me the check - I'll pay, anyone who wants can just put money in the hat." And there's ALWAYS someone who never pays, because (A) The guy picking up the check must be Rich so I don't need to pay (B) The food doesn't really cost anything, it comes from a big corporation and they're ripping us all off (C) Money is just a way to oppress people, I don't use it.

All while burping up over a full belly their beer and fish and chips and ice cream that someone else paid for. Quite a convenient philosophy, the way it works out.

My favorite was a guy we used to know who would say " give me the cash for your orders fellas and I will put it on my card, makes it easier for the waitress that way." Came to find out that not only was he getting points on his credit card that way, which is fine, but that he was stiffing the waitresses for their tips despite the fact that we all gave him cash for the tips. Needless to say, once that came to light he was given a hard talking to and doesn't come to breakfast anymore.

That's exciting. The tank I got from them 3 years ago is holding up well. I had it pressure tested twice before painting but no leaks found.

Fit isn't perfect so every winter I try something new to keep it from rubbing against the frame on the left side. But overall very satisfied.

The fact that you are getting this kind of communication back from ANY business, much less an overseas one, is a very good sign that they are interested in doing a good job .... Be interested to see how the work is when it comes back ....

And how do you know this?

Do you have a screw to measure?

I actually found 4 here and they are indeed "tiny" as you suggest

Much smaller than 2BA....

Please tell me why I have tank badge screws for BSA tanks (like in the photo) 1968-1970 that are smaller than 2BA?

Not sure about other bikes but I'm "pretty" sure my BSA unit singles use two different types of badge screws. One for the small plastic single hole badge and a smaller one (in dia) for the large metal two hole badge....(like will be used on the tank shown) My Indian tank is a single screw type....don't remember what screw fit it.....but I don't remember it being a problem.

Wonder if that's where the confusion is coming from????

No idea, the only BSA’s I have use fibreglass tanks. 2BA is roughly 3/16” diameter 6BA is only 0.11” O/D, could your stock just be mid-labelled?
I will re-check tomorrow anyway!

My small plastic single hole badges were used on a fiberglass tank (by BSA) .......don't quote me but I do believe they are 2BA.

BUT.......my large metal double hole badges use a different screw.......much smaller in diameter.

Surely doesn't mean they are ALL like that.

The plastic single badge screws are larger than the metal badge screws (back to my main point in reference to the photo of the tank)
