I use Castrol 20W-50 Classic in all of my classic British bikes and my MGB, because of the high zinc content. I was running low and ordered two five-quart containers of oil from Amazon. Finding the stuff in local stores seems impossible, at least where I live. Well, UPS delivered the oil in a cardboard box and as luck would have it, both my wife and I weren't at home when it was delivered so the driver left it on the porch. Unfortunately, my two dogs were outside and decided to eat the box. They also chewed on one of the containers of oil. I checked and all I saw was dents from teeth all over it, with no punctures. After picking it up I still didn't see any holes and there was no visible leakage. So, I started off walking with the container, when it started squirting oil out of a hole on the side which I didn't see. I spread oil all over the place! Then, the dogs stepped in the spilled oil and spread it further. I finally saw what was happening and poured the oil into another empty container I had. Then I spent the next two hours cleaning up the mess. It's a very good thing I like dogs, because I was really pissed off!

Deleted my post, apologies if it offended, it was meant as humour. Sorry. Joe

That's what you get for letting your dogs run loose. Better they damage YOUR stuff than somebody else's.

That must have been some kind of mess! Dogs can certainly be mischievous can't they? Don't be too hard on them - man's best friend, right? Noel

Time to kill the dogs. Or get a dog proof box for future shipments My cat scratches at things, but never gets inside. I didn't even know they still made GTX.

That's what you get for letting your dogs run loose. Better they damage YOUR stuff than somebody else's. I live in the North Georgia mountains on 40 acres surrounded by National Forest. I don't have any neighbors that my dogs can bother. I'm in the same situation. Our dog Jack gets to roam outside - when he was young and active, we had a "marco polo" collar on him that would alarm us if he got more than a preset distance from the house (about 1/2 mile in our case - our nearest neighbor and the highway are farther away than that.) We trained him not to go beyond the limit we set. The learning opportunities occurred when we had to go get him. Didn't take long. He's 14 now and doesn't tend to go far from the house, so we don't use the collar any more. If we weren't at the house and the delivery man came ... The first couple of times Jack opened the box for us and took apart what was inside to make sure it was safe for us. He very soon learned that that was far outside his pay grade, and was not a job we wanted him to do, and so that hasn't happened for 13-1/2 years now. I used the words "Learned" and "Learning" and "Trained" for a reason. Your dogs don't want to cost you money or upset you. You just have to let them know in Dog Terms (and that's different for different dogs, just like it is for people) what Belongs to Them and what Belongs to You. It's our responsibility as dog people. A cat knows that everything is "her's" I'm just glad that mine stays off the kitchen counters and table.
