Great old historical picture there.

Since there was a photographer right there, up close, there was probably a bit of "all right, hold that pose" going on, especially since the young lady still has her Mauser slung, and her buddy staring down the barrel of it. When doing this kind of work, an infantryman would normally unsling his rifle and his partner hold it on guard.

Also trying to figure out what job she's doing. Possibly taking the nut off of the valve stem before laying the bike on its side and peeling out part of the tube to patch it .....

Hope our daughters don't have to be in these sorts of situations ...

They used to have a midday siesta in combat in the Spanish Civil War.

I keep looking through threads such as this in hopes that I will someday spot a photo of my mom, who was married to a bike mechanic in the late '30s, early '40s iin the Indianapolis area. She used to talk about riding in groups and to races.

Or in short, her Race Face. A very good look. But a warning to not do anything stupid....!

Well, considering some of the pictures on here, I hope you don't have to end up at a therapist's if you DO find her ..... blush blush laughing

I have this album. The track "Highway of freedom" starts with the sound of an oncoming A65 and the lyrics are all about riding.
