Chubby Checker makes a 1982 comeback. A friend who worked at Record Bar turned me on to this album.
I broke out my LP again tonight. Typical 80s production, but it still sounds good.

"Hey Tonight", Creedence Clearwater Revival... stuck in my brain since it was the last song I heard in my truck yesterday.

A few years back, this became my norm; the last song I listen to will "stick" in my brain 'till I hear something else.

Found myself taking a little jaunt into Ohio at the PA/OH turnpike a few Saturdays ago. On my way back from Georgia... Yes it was a BIG detour . But worth it.... But that story is for another thread.... As I was crossing the state line I lost the Pittsburgh Blues station I normally listen to when I'm in the area but as I hit the seek button on the cassette/radio I was greeted on the first hit to 91.1 just as they were announcing that their 9-midnight Blues show was starting and this was the first song I heard. Luckily I shazamed it because I lost that station too after about three songs that were all incredible. Still can't figure out what station that was . Id see if I could listen in on Saturday nights on the internet if I could.

Meanwhile - since then Shuggie Otis is my playlist day after day and it doesn't disappoint

This has a good time line of who he was growing up

Wade, your post on Shuggy Otis took me into the wayback machine to when I was at Cal Berkeley 67-71 and a female DJ on the FM rock station KSAN (I think) played a lot of Shuggy. I remember him playing really great electric blues, with lots of wah-wah, and him being really young, even by the standards of that time, maybe 17? Anyway, a great and gifted artist. .

If you get a chance to see this artist perform live I would HIGHLY recommend not missing it... unless seeing a person pour their heart out with just vocals and a guitar is not your bag. Her guitar style is remarkable... I could not figure out what she was doing with her picking hand but it made a 6 string sound like a twelve and I think she has more joints in her thumb than mere mortals.

I've seen this band before but Thursday night exceeded all expectations. The venue is great, the crowd was into it but not ridiculous, and the band tore the roof off the joint. From honky tonk to country weepers to rock stompers to an instrumental as heavy as anything I've seen in ages- they did it all and never missed a trick.
SEE THIS BAND LIVE!
