I've found where I had most of my group photos stashed.

We had talked about Bruce Martin and I told a story about his son. Bill (aka no name man) said that Bruce and him shared a room and Bruce talked about his daughter but Bill didn't remember him mentioning his son. I "thought" I had a photo of them together. Bruce in the middle of the photo.(white t-shirt)....wanta guess which one is his son?

Well, in answer to the Trivia question, and the concern about Chaps, there's proof that Windy was wearing actual racing leathers as late as 2006 ... !

Okay for those who missed (?) the 2011 and 2012 group photos I posted........the answer to the trivia question "Last year Windy wore leathers on the ride?"

is 2011.

I'll try to make it easier from now on.

Blue Ridge Parkway.......

Approximately 60 miles (for the old TSMR loop) of no traffic lights, stop signs, commercial traffic or turn offs.

People come from all over the world to ride on it.

It’s been eliminated from the new loop but there are plenty of good roads to choose from…..I just always like being on top of the world but understand not everyone likes it. The section we rode was my ā€œlong wayā€ home when I had an office in Blowing Rock……done that section dozens of times. My favorite kinda motorcycle riding.

I’d like to take a group over to Abingdon for dinner one evening…….have you guys been over there yet?

It takes about 15mins longer than the ride to Mountain City but Abingdon has so much more to offer IMO.

A place like 128 Pecan…..then the ice cream shop? Most of the good restaurants are bundled together downtown. Several options. Mamma Mia’s isn’t as expensive. It is a resort area so some places can be ā€œkindaā€ pricey.

That was taken the year she rode pillion on Richard Whatley’s Triumph.

She’s doing fine…….motherhood agrees with her and she’s in a job now that’s paying her 3 times what she used to make.

I’m going back and forth about asking her is she wants to join us Saturday. She has her own bike now.

She’s come a long way since our lunch in Blowing Rock when you were feeling out the area for a move.

Wonder what it would take for Morgan to replace the 10th anniversary pin with the 25th?????

If he’ll tell us what kind of file it needs to be I can ask my pin supplier for it?

Be nice to update IMO.

That’s a shame. Always nice to have Shaun around and I was REALLY looking forward to finally meeting Kev.

Okay……positive thinking here…there’s always next year.

Perhaps we can convince Morgan to make an appearance? Or at least a cardboard facsimile?

At the very first meeting in 1999, Morgan called in to our little gathering. With all the advances in technology since then (Skype, Zoom, and all like that), could some smart, techno-equipped attendee bring a big display that we could set up and have a virtual gab around the fire so that those separated from us by an ocean could "be there"?

Everyone knows I'd rather it was 1957 than 2023, but as long as we're here, might as well turn the tech to our advantage......

That’s a great idea Lannis. We thought we’d try that at the Reunion Camp but it just didn’t work out…..Windy’s might have better service.

The TSMR and our Mid-Ohio get together were started in an attempt to give bb.com members a chance to meet face to face. That FIRST gathering….everyone was invited…..three of us showed up…..fast forward and 3 turned into 30+…...the last Mid-Ohio I was involved with we fed 125 people at our bbq lunch.

Been a good ride

There is a pretty good wifi signal. The closer to the 5th wheel the better but it will work at the fire pit and that end of the shower house. Great idea.

Semper Gumby (aka Bill) was out IT guy……I just don’t think he had service at TWOS for the Reunion Camp. He’ll check in soon and we can hit him up again. I know absolutely NOTHING about that kinda stuff….so I’m no help.

But that would be a WONDERFUL way to touch base with our friends across the pond (ponds?)

The 128 pecan is quite pricey. Mamma mias we haven’t tried it YET but from we hear it is great. Another place is lukes cafe we have good stuff about. Thinking about giving it try soon and can report back. A good Mexican- seafood place is puerto nuevo.

The most expensive item on their (128 Pecan) menu is $25. I guess that qualifies as ā€œpriceyā€ but resort towns are like that. I’m working in West Jefferson and it’s quickly becoming the new Blowing Rock $15-$20 hamburgers are the norm.

I’m just thinking out loud and trying to come up with a plan……no others need apply. For me it will be my vacation for the year…..I’m not counting pennies…..I still have a pay check coming in.

I spend too much time scanning maps. That always looked to be a nice ride. 421 over and 58 back through Damascus?

You could do it that way…….nice ride if you’ve never ridden the other half of the snake. Beautiful view of the lake BUT you have to deal with Bristol. If I was going by myself I’d just take 58 there and back. If I’m showing someone the country….I’d do the 421 route.

It’s been awhile since I’ve visited that area…..and I tend to shy away from populated areas when I’m on a bike. Might be better as a lunch stop? Then no one has to ride back in the dark.

I’d be happy to ride over there with you……one of those afternoons when the fast guys are out and about……I can’t keep up with them anyway.

Gordon you don't have to go into Bristol from the lake. you can take a right turn at 44 there is a store gas station at that corner and that will take you into abingdon.
