Hi there,

a mate has given me a grab rail after his garage clearout.

I have held it to my '69 Lightning but the length between the lugs' holes is different.

The Lightning's grab rail has center to center about 5" resp. 127 mm, the one pictured measures about 6" resp. 153 mm.



The grab rail has the same style as my Lightning's, so it is very likely an item for a BSA.

Could you help me out with the model it is intended for? B44?

A 6 inch grab rail would work on a 69 B44 VS.

Also the pre 66 a65's had a different grab rail than the later ones. My 65 rear was stripped for scrambles so I can't measure but from the he parts book they are a different number then later ones
68 a65: 68-9327
65 a65: 68-9135
69 b44: 41-9152
My b44 also measured about 6 inches by the lower tabs ( tho they're a little tweaked on mine)

I see a slight bend at the mounting tabs in the one you show. A B44 version from a 67 B44R that is sitting on my desk as I type is straight at that point. So, I say not from a B44.

Indeed, a bent tab could be the case. Apparently, the grab rail had been shoehorned to an A65 with brackets of flat steel.
