Hi Mike and welcome to the forum.

This is an easy one.

Someone has installed the shift camplate upside down either on purpose so he could imagine he was on a Gold Star (or Norton, or a BSA A10/A7/B31 or...). Maybe it was just what he was used to. I've heard of that happening.

Or, it was a mistake. Take your pick.

Changing it if you decide you need to means removing both RH side covers, but you don't usually need to disassemble the clutch side, unless of course you find something else wrong that makes going in deeper a good idea.

Best of luck with it.

If you plan to buy a Norton or a pre unit BSA in the future do nothing, if you plan to buy a Triumph then change it now.

For a C15F or C15G is an easy swap, more work involved with the earlier C15's.

All my BSA Unit Singles follow the Norton pattern as I have equal numbers of both.

I SO wanted your location to be Australia! (or anywhere in the antipodes for that matter).......... The merry quips and general witticisms could have been boundless.
