Thanks for the update John -
Walking out of rehab hand in hand with your wife is a GREAT goal. Can’t wait to hear about that first home-cooked meal. Please let us know when you’d be up to receiving visitors. My youngest (Luke) is starting college this fall in Putney, VT (Landmark College), so I’ll be making trips to New England regularly for the foreseeable future (visiting him and my parents) Would love to stop in and say hello when you feel up to it.
All the best,
Steve

OK, Lannis's thread and his close call in the 'Rod and Tappet' reminded me about this one again...........just checking you are still improving or have now nicely recovered John?

I have been absent from the forum for a long time. Last I was here I was wishing John a happy birthday. Today I just found this thread. I am afraid to ask but I must.
John, are you still with us?
Please someone. Can answer for him. I really don't want to bother Tom or Susan.

Thank you for the good news. John and his exceptional memory are still intact then. I owe him so much. I got to work alongside of him on my bike. That was one of the high points of my life.

Thank God John is still on this side of life

I’ve only learned of John’s situation in the latest copy of VB. John is a fine man and will be in my prayers for a return to full health.

Thank you all for the prayers and support you all have given me. A lot of you understand what has been going on in my body. It is if I am preaching to the choir. I am 7 months out from the day they moved me to rehab. Still need to pay attention when walking, talking and normal daily activities . Although I still get the occasional, “I didn’t expect to find you so advanced” when seeing a new therapist , Dr or nurse” I have a habit of brushing problems aside. Especially when involved doctors or going to the hospital is involved. During all this I just put my head down and plowed ahead . Special thanks to the emergency room Dr. who diagnosed that I had a serious case of Herpes encephalitis and found an anti viral treatment which It seems to have done its job. Morgan still following Vincent and Triumph forum’s Working with Bill Harting get out the next issue of Vintage Bike. Plowing through hundreds of emails and work they left for me on my desk. Thank you for all of you best wishes and prayers. I will be dealing with who I have named myself: “ME” and have The real John back soon. Work still needs to be done!

Great to hear from you, John. It has already been a long haul and with more to come. However with your positive approach and indomitable spirit I am sure you will win through. All my very best wishes for your continuing recovery.

screw the emails. delete everything and announce that everybody has to start over if they want anything from you.
no need for you to do any of that digging.
and glad to see you back.

Great to read of your recovery John. I have shared a similar experience, although my illness was discovered early enough to prevent ICU . 12 months ago to today, I came home from nightshift dazed and confused, as someone once sang. Long story short I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Encephalitis which resulted in me collapsing in a seizure, having a couple of stays in the Neuro unit in hospital and having to surrender my licence and take ill health retirementfrom work.. All that said, as of 11/11 I am meds free and starting the process of applying for my licence back. So again, great to read that you are on the mend as well

John,
I want to revive this thread to update and wish you had the best of holidays. I hope you will reply even if did not. This is a case of any news is better than none.
