It's a dang shame no one knew about those things when they settled in that island paradise.

The first dudes there, they built grass huts and kept their outriggers pulled up on the beach for a quick getaway.....

Hey Cat,
Isn’t moving from the fault line to the volcano zone pretty much going from the frying pan to the fire? 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Perhaps they should throw a virgin into the volcano to appease the gods and make it stop.

One volcano going off 15 miles away, and another one going off 30 miles away

Is that because of climate change? Asking for a friend.

No , the whole Hawaiian chain of Islands ... is volcanic .
[Linked Image from dhrititimelineofplatetectonics.weebly.com]
there is a "hot spot" in the Earth's mantle
that is stationary , for the last 40 million years anyway
and as the ocean floor drifts over ... islands pop up through the hotspot . ( still drifting northwest at about 3 and 1/2" per year )
The process has been happening for millions of years .
( there is a similar hotspot underneath what is now the Yellowstone area )

The big island of "Hawaii" is the newest and most active in the Hawaiian chain , at about half a million years old
While Kauai is older , at just over 5 million years old

But speaking of climate change , The National Observatory atop Hawaii's tallest volcano
is where evidence for climate change was first gathered .

It goes like this...

The volcano starts blowing up, everyone in the village panics.
The hysteria is terrible, people running in circles,

The chief goes to the witch doctor: "What can we do to stop this?"

Witch doctor replies: "One thing never fails!"
Chief: ""what is it?"

"We sacrifice a seventeen-year-old VIRGIN to it!"

Chief: "Well, I guess we'll just have to get used to the noise!"

I heard there was a widespread hunt for a virgin to sacrifice. After exhaustive efforts they finally did find one… boy was HE ugly. 🤪

I think you only get one shot at that, Celibate or chaste, perhaps.

As St Augustine is reputed to have said "Grant me celibacy and continence, but not just yet"
