This is one of two OIF Bonnevilles I refurbished for a guy (one at a time). '82 Bonnie 750 Electric Start.

Not a striking difference, but you'd be amazed how many parts got replaced due to hidden rust and wear...

This is the other of the stablemates, a '79 Bonneville,

This bike belonged to Malcolm "BritBodger" Dixon, a name many of you bb.com guys will remember. It was among the bikes and things that his nephew tasked me with prepping and selling after he passed.

I did a total replacement of all perished rubber bits, a polish up, and replaced a few off parts, then did a total maintenance servicing. The buyer was well please.

Thanx!

It turns out, that's the last of the Triumphs I've restored.

I have overhauled a few Triumph engines apart from the restorations, maybe I'll post pix of those...

That would be nice to see if it isn't too much trouble. Last engine I had completely apart for rebuild was in 1972 or so but inner engine pictures are always interesting, I think to any of us on here. -BA

This was my first client overhaul of a Triumph big twin (650), for a chopper that JD was building. He works at/for Barber's in promotional / advertising.

(I didn't get any "before" photos, sorry)

This is what I came up with to ship the engine back to him - at the time, I couldn't fid a big enough tote to pack it in. So, I made this "base" to tip the engine over so the lid could close.

The finished Hillbilly chopper...

Again, no "before" photos, I think this was a '73 Bonnie engine sent to me that had some minor case damage that had to be welded up by my expert welder. Very straightforward overhaul, other than that.

Very nice GP. How many engines have you done over the years?

This is a Trident 750 triple engine that I overhauled, my one and only triple rebuild. Quite a bit different than the twins! (other than a few items like the gear cluster and cams)

1972 Bonnie engine that I restored for a guy that bought a restoration donor bike from me. He built himself a very smart cafe racer, but wasn't up to doing the overhaul part. He had the covers powdercoated black, even though I advised against it. Still came out nice but i personally don't like PC on engines...

The donor bike was one rough puppy...

Not wanting to waste a nice sunny day Su n me got our old bikes that we have previously restored out and dusted them off, checked the oil and tyres and went for a short ride around the block to warm the engines up.

First photo is what I started with a knackered 70,s chopper which was too far gone to restore back to original so built it up with parts I had laying around hence BSA front end & petrol tank , norton oil tank etc etc .Finished this one around a year ago, fun bike to ride which is suprisingly quick must be due to it being very light in weight.. now looking for another project/build.. Here is a pic of the family Triumph after removing the sidecar. Just a bit of evaluating to work out the next step. Plenty of compression & all complete.

Yes it is. I am 68 & can remember working on the clutch plates with my Dad when I was 12!!!!
It will be a project of love & very emotional. My Dad never drove a car so this was his only form of transport. I even found the receipt & first registration papers in my Dad's name from 1960.
In reality I am the caretaker of this bike for the next generation!!

Here is an update photo of all the parts stripped & etch primed.

I prefer to call it a "rescue", rather than a true restoration.
As purchased and as she is now:
