Anyone have any pictures or better description of where these add on oil filters can be located? Some adds say behind transmission? Thanks, Gary

I made a mount shaped like a piece of C channel, but welded together to be the correct dimension and attached it with the bolt on the rear motor mount. I used a Norton type filter adapter. The filter is somewhat protected by the centerstand. I had to pull the rear fender and the oil lines (which needed to be modified anyway to plumb in the filter) to get the bolt out and the mount and adapter on. Sorry I don't have any photos right now, but the bike (69 Thunderbolt) is a bit deep in the garage and I am tending to my wife who just had surgery. Hope this helps.

Since I lack fabrication skill and am lazy by nature, I bought a filter mounting kit from Paul Goff in the UK. http://www.norbsa02.freeuk.com/goffyoil.htm

Here's my solution for the MAP oil filter. That is a steel plate with two L-brackets that bolt to the tool carrier mounting lugs. A P-clamp holts the filter. You can remove the one P-clamp bolt in order to tip the filter outward to change the element. One little snag was that the spigots on the filter are 3/8", and my hoses are 5/16", so I had to source some "reducing fittings". ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/wBZyPK2H/GEDC1963.jpg)

Mark, What's the overall length of the filter? Do you think the map filter will fit into the toolbox, with maybe a little modifying? Nice installation. Gary

I wish I had a picture of how I installed it on my 70 Tbolt but the bike's been sold. All I did was remove the nut holding the timing side rear footpeg, slip the clamp supplied with the kit on and replace the nut. The body of the filter is parallel with the swing arm with the hose bosses to the front. Took all of about 5 minutes.

A common way using the "Norton" filter adpter. One thing to be aware of, the early and later oil manifolds on the bottom of the motor have different size tubes. Fussing to match with the filter hose size.

KC, that looks like a good installation, but a bit LOW. Would a skid plate be necessary to protect it?

Don’t have a handy photo, but its above the center stand when stowed. I may be at the bike today for a pic.

I like the Morgo filter, it is nice and slim and fits between the engine plates on a pre unit 20160321_122720_zpsl8dpzkwz by Sigma Projects, on Flickr

ANY oil filter is better than NO oil filter. I keep looking an some of the small ones on some lawn mowers, ones like the Kawasaki vertical crank engines use. Those are plentiful (NAPA stores stock them) but some type of mount would need to be made.
But that's my project for a later date.

In my case, TRIUMPH.
But with the oil-feed system the BSA twins use, an oil filter is essential to keep grit in the oil from wearing the crank's oil feed busing.

Wow! some great looking pics! The only thing better would be to have it installed for me. But that wouldn't be any fun. Thanks for all the responses! Gary

K.C.:
THAT, sir, is a VERY SLICK installation. It harms nothing, and uses two already existing frame mounting lugs. By mounting the filter sideways, it guarantees there is plenty of clearance.
I presume the aluminum part was hand-made on a lathe, but what is the origin of the filter itself?
None the less, it has given me a new idea of how to do it.

Hey Guys, Gary hasn't asked the question yet, but it has been mentioned before. On an A65 with the 3-hose oil manifold, is it okay to add the filter to the oil tank return line and leave the small line connected straight to the rocker arm infeed? Other than circulating "unfiltered" oil are there any other issues? Thanks, Doug

I have always used a Full Flow filter, one that I can blow through fairly easy, no red face!! If the filter is too hard to pass oil, the “back up” can cause the rocker feed to take the “excess”. I guess that would be different on the 2 types of oil manifolds, but my ‘67 has the feed off the motor manifold, not off the tank. The Emgo filters are good for the flow purpose, but others are also, …… looks kinda weird in the auto parts store, back there blowing in filters……. 🤓
