Hi all, transplant from the BSA forum here! I have a B441 (ish) and am trying to get a speedo that 1) I like 2) Works 3) Wont break the bank
I have tried a Repro from a classic bike company (which says it fine for a B44 ..... it isnt) but frankly the thing is useless and over reads like mad. Specs on the "revs per mile" do not seem to be available.
Came across this :- "RS Vintage Parts EBY0169 Triumph T20 Cub Speedometer Replica - 80421/19/2 Speedo - 60Mm - & Tested" on Amazon, I like the look, and size, and its range would be fine for how the bike is set up, but am faced with the same issue of what is its Rev / Mile,( or indeed what is the Rev / Mile of the item it is a replica of!)
Anyone had experience of this unit?

Cubs use a 2:1 speedo gearbox/ drive
I’d be tempted to get a used original, or an electronic one.

Hmmm ..... interesting. I have a 2:1 drive fitted.
Shame Cubs use a 17inch wheel. My bike has 18inch so it would under read a tad, but better than the mechanical one I haver which is a good 25% out. Electronic .... got one .... takes AGES to initialize, like a minute or longer.
At $21us it is probably worth a punt!

That one shouldn't be too far out. If you get a used one, make sure it has 1600 on the face to match your drive.

You might want to check with Andy Henderson at Vintage British Cables. He seems to have excellent information. http://vintagebritishcables.com/

The $21 version is undoubtedly an Indian version, it is advertised on other sites as being 2:1 so no problem there probably. But being Indian, it will be designed to fit in a deep headlight, and (based on other folks' experiences) will not fit in any holder besides that. Bears considering...
