I'm having to replace the ammeter on my 1968 Bonneville T120R. I'm replacing it with a replica from Lucas, P/N 36403 with 12-amp ranges. The parts book for 1968 doesn't show an o-ring seal, but the damaged one currently on the bike has an o-ring seal, or at least the remains of one. Is a 1968 Bonneville supposed to have an o-ring seal under the ammeter? A gasket? If the answer is no, I'm thinking of sealing it with RTV.

It's not rally a seal, just anti vibration and location. those little tabs on the ammeter just hold it in place.

Thanks. I installed the new ammeter. The new Lucas replica ammeter unfortunately is made so that the main portion of the gauge with plastic housing is free to rotate, so I used RTV to hold it in place. It works great.
