''Then out spake brave Horatius, the captain of the Gate: To every man upon this earth death cometh soon or late. And how can man die better than facing fearful odds, for the ashes of his fathers and the temples of his Gods?''

If this dont make you feel fussy inside then check your pulse
John Fogerty was always one of my favorites. He sued the writer of "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" for stealing this song and slightly rewriting it, and won. I always thought that song sounded familiar .... !

Canned Heat ... haven't listened to them in 50 years . Alan Wilson the genius behind Canned Heat , died in 1970 , age 27 . Of a barbiturate overdose the trajectory of his short life changed When he first heard old black blues records . ... he was an overly bright student ( nerd ) who played trombone ( there was one more than genius in canned heat , but whatever .)
So much so that he Tracked Down an old blues Man Son House .... who had fallen on Hard Times and given up music for full time drinking and re-taught Son to play his own long forgotten songs . ( Alan Wilson played harmonica back up on these re-recordings ) Son House lived on into old age playing his music in front of appreciative smaller audiences , mostly a young and white College audience )
Here Alan Wilson combines traditional style American Black Blues with Indian sitar . These old live recordings are over dubbed ... the studio work on the recordings , had Alan Wilson Singing and playing harp , slide and Lead guitar ... something hard to master live . 0w

Road trip to the mountain redoubt this weekend... on the way up we did an Iron Maiden retrospective beginning with the self-titled LP and going through to POWERSLAVE (when I was a yoot I was an ardent devotee but I stopped paying attention to them much after the execrable "Somewhere in Time"). I've long considered my favorites of theirs to be the 2 records with Paul Di'Anno on vocals as they were so raw and, dare I say, "punky". Still great (within the parameters) , sure, but the band really hit their peak when they got Bruce Dickinson on vocals for Number of the Beast. Just a ripper of a record. A sing-a-long classic (ask anyone headed west on I-40 Friday afternoon."What's the matter with that boy driving that church van?!")!
Ennyhooo. Try not to hurt your neck slinging your noggin to this one... or to not fall out of your chair laughing at the silly-ass video where they totally out Spinal Tap Spinal Tap.
