Starlock washer 82-8245?... https://www.britishbikebits.com/starlock-washer-bsa-b25-b50-a65-a75-triumph-tr6-t120-t150-tr5t...Secures the 83-4930 fixing bolt to the slotted frame bracket so prevents the bolt flats under the bolt head from dropping out of engagement with the slot when the assembly is loosened and retains it in the vertical position for tank refitting. Item 19 from the Harris parts book that also shows the rubber (22) drawn correctly: ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/bNwq65qF/Screenshot-from-2022-05-17-14-58-27.png)

Thanks LAB My '78 did not have that washer - and it's not shown in the parts manual. Next time around will fit it as you described.

Hi, I don’t think the star nut matters. Usually the bolt head is thick enough to be in flats anyway. I’ve not seen the star washer used there before. It’s used to good use on air filter bolt. Don

It was on my T140W....but it eventually split and broke and I never replaced it, not really needed.

If the special bolt does drop out of engagement with the frame bracket it can make the tank securing nut very difficult to undo (hence the large number of old tanks on Ebay which have damage to the central mounting tube, where people have resorted to brute force). I cram a short piece of cable tie under the head of the bolt to keep it in place, or replace it with a setscrew and nut, making it a rigid fit.
If anything other than a blank space is visible here, something's wrong.
