I just got a notice that the pins have shipped so we'll get a look at those soon.

There was a year where Lannis and Mr Mike went off on a journey on their own. I recently found a map that probably has the exact roads they were on.

Part of the TSMR is at the bottom left of the map.....HWY 58.

Just goes to show you what kinda country the event is held in........for those who've never attended.

Plenty of time to put this one on the calendar. Meet some members face to face. EVERYBODY'S welcome. The focus is vintage British motorcycles but bring what ya got. Good chance you won't see any trailer queens on the campground.......unless you bring one and that's fine too.

The British are coming.....Kev and Shaun plan on being there. You know you want to come meet them......and help us welcome them back to the US.

Details to follow but the plan now is to make a week out of it with tale telling, riding, campground TV (fire pit), tire kicking, bike repair and plenty to eat.

Delivered the tire stand ( Lannis declined the gift) to Windy this weekend. I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to spend a week at his campground and not do it in a tent……those days are slipping away from me.


Stopped in Mountain City at the restaurant we used to stop at for lunch.



The place has gone through some changes….not enough breakfast for No Name Man but it’s still an option for others during the week. They did have an “all you can eat” pancake option for Saturday…..wouldn’t work for our schedule but I betcha a talk with the owner might turn up another option. Already planning on a big turn out for the 25th

How come we never found that place! I thought we had all the decent places covered.

Don't worry about breakfast. Everyone is on their own sched in the morning and the early eaters don't want to wait for the late sleepers

It’s a coffee bar with food now. I had regular coffee and their Mountain Melt. I could have eaten three of them. It was good but a bit pricey.

I wasn’t trying to find places (yet)……just doing a little time tripping.

I can talk with the new owner about a “Thursday” morning special for those pancakes. Might be something he’d consider.

I’m just getting started.

I need to check if the Food Lion in MC offers the same as ours in NC. Very tasty chicken wing cart that a lot of people don’t know about.

Wonder if the place across from the Exxon is still in operation? ( behind the drug store) Just more excuses to get riding time in.

I swear the recon and planning is a lot of the fun for me.

The closest thing we’ve ever had to a “group” breakfast was when a group of us would do the Amish place at Mid-Ohio. The rest of the time it’s on your own.

I don’t see any reason to change that. People get up at different times. A “wheels up” at 10am ( day of the actual ride) gives plenty of time (IMO) for folks to get some breakfast.

We tried that place the year the one closed that we had been going to. It was a limited success...

I don’t remember that. I do remember talking with the owners ( it was brand new back then) and “thought” I decided to NOT go there. But my memory can’t be
trusted.

To be honest food is the least of my worries. I plan on being there for the whole week. I really do not want to be in a tent. I’ve looked at all kind of options but so far nothing. Lannis’ crew had a great idea with the house rental. Im not much for sharing……always been that way. I also would rather stay at the campgrounds. Riding back and forth across the snake is worst than the thought of a tent. I “almost” pulled the trigger on a motorcycle pull behind camper last night……but changed my mind.

Plenty of time to work it out.

But food…….there’s plenty of that up there.

The coffee shop has horrible hours and days they ate open. When they are open like gordon stated a bit pricey. Same with the restaurant around the corner from the drug store. I don’t see how any business stays in business in mountain city with the hours and days they keep.

If the price of gas is not prohibitive I plan on bringing the motorhome down and being able to do breakfast and a few dinners.

I took a quick walk through Marlin's camper.....so sweet. I've never owned anything like that, but the older I get the more they appeal to me. My take on it is the type him and Mike have are GREAT for one person OR a couple (which would be fun if you were just getting to know each other) and is perfect for what they use it for. BUT, I don't own a truck anymore.......so if I went that route I'd have to get both. I don't like sharing space, I've always been like that. I can only imagine how nice your motorhome is. I'm at a point I want to do something about it.......just haven't figured out what. Can you haul a bike on the Motorhome?

The tent thing worked for decades........still could in a pinch BUT. At the Three State I woke up Sunday morning to the sound of falling drops. It wasn't raining......it was dew. That was pretty much the straw. Pretty pricy pop up, a newish tent, ranked high for motorcycle camping....but they both were completely soaked on the UNDERSIDE. I know by noon it probably would have dried out BUT......Something's gota give.

PS.......AND the fight I have with my underwear inside the tent has been getting to the point........where the tent is winning.

I can haul a trailer full of bikes Gordon. It's a 33 foot class A bus. Way more than what I started out to get but it was too good a deal to pass up. Laurie and I have it parked a short walk from the ocean in York Beach Maine and it's been a nice place to spend the weekends, but if it was just me I would have gone much smaller. As it is we plan on maybe spending a few weeks (months?) in warmer climates during the winter if we ever get to the full retirement stage of life.

and it has plenty of head room so my drawers don't fight me too much

Just as soon as I walked away from the computer......the trailer thing hit me. Almost 50' of "your stuff" oh yea....I'm envious.

AND.......I can see that being a great way to see other parts of the country.

Making that tent seem smaller and smaller.

8 mpg is about right, but it drives OK. Gas was in the $2.25 range when we bought it . and it is comfy, and nice not to have to look for a restroom break or decent place to eat while traveling.

I hate it when I run out of likes.

Back in the late 70s I drove my Grandmothers RV to the beach for her. She would spend a couple months at the beach every year…..she loved that thing. What I remember about it was…….how easy it was to drive. I don’t think her’s was as long as yours but I’m thinking it was close.

Have you pulled a trailer yet???? My guess is you won’t know it’s back there.

It wouldn’t be for everyone. I don’t have room to keep it. Not close enough to the beach to leave it set up. I live/work in the mountains. But man oh man the comfort level is off the charts.

Gas prices….so far I’ve not seen any evidence that a fellow can take it with him. If you place a (dead) rich and poor man in a field at the same time……then come back in six months…..my bet is they will pretty much look the same.

OK, I'll fire up the Kodak this weekend and take a few snapshots (am I showing my age?) then figure out how to post them We are about 250 steps from the beach in a camper park, just have to make it past the 3 bars in between.
