We've got two threads on this going now and I still don't know what you guys are on about. There's nothing buzzing around on my screen....🥳

there are black bars that flash on and off accross my screen that make the site almost unreadable .
Probably a combo of some pop up banner ad the morgan has added and my browsers ad blocker features ?

Lannis I’m with Lannis on this one. I have absolutely no clue what this “preview” is???? So if we don’t see it…… wouldn’t you think it “could” be turned off????? Gordon PS…….the ONLY preview I see is the “Preview Reply” which I don’t use anyway.

Since some folks don't see the "preview", then either it can be turned off, or some operating systems don't support it. I don't see it on an Android or on Linux....

When you run your "mouse" across the subject, tiny black letters show up as a sort of "preview" of what is printed there.
The problem is: it shows up even if you accidentally cross over some other message.

Had to look around but I see it now!!!!!! Lannis…….go to forums and pick one. Then scroll down the subjects. I “guess” I never have run into it because I “almost” never do that. 99.9% of the time I navigate through “active threads”…….I’ve pretty much done that ever since that option was offered.

I worked with it a bit.
I very seldom navigate through the FORUMS menu so I never noticed it.
BUT........that said, I don't see much use for it. It's something I don't think I'd ever use.

I followed your directions and now I see it. Been on this board forever and never made the combination of mouse moves and clicks that would make it show up. Since I never access the board that way, I'll leave the opinions on the feature's relative goodness or badness to those that use it .... ! Lannis

I see it on the MBP using Firefox, but there are much more annoying things than that on the web. Fuggit about it.
It's not a bug, it's 'character.'

A good or relevant headline was enough for to open a thread.
Loiter time is important to blog metrics, but the preview feature is annoying. My two cents worth.
As Mr. DavidP says, there are bigger fish to fry.

I know “different strokes”……….but I’ve preached using the “Active Threads” option long before it had its own place at the top of the page.
WHY anyone would go to the trouble to scroll through a forum’s list of threads evades me. Maybe they’re looking for an old thread. I thought that’s what the search is for?
But if that’s the way you do it……I can see the preview is pretty much useless IMO.
Gordon
I’d make a bet that I use this board as much as anyone and have for a couple of decades and yesterday was the first time I ever noticed the preview… and that was only because I went looking for it.

I'm not reading every day.(well sometimes) I scroll through the forums to view what's up.
Hot links, Pub, Goldie, BSA thread.
Pretty much down the forum listing.
When I was a puppy, the rule of thumb was that there was always seven ways to perform a wanted action in programming.
I think it still holds true.
Thankfully, since the early seventies, people write programming and now APPs for me to buy, instead of write. Thank my lucky stars I did never get good enough at it to make a profession of programming. And I now speedily slip into my old age shoes, I don't even try to keep up with it.

for those of you seeing this feature Morgan has turned it off. That’s great news! Fact is, IMHO, BritBike.com is like a 1970 Bonneville export model - perfect in every way and the acme of motorcycle design and technology. Morgan, don’t change a thing. This is already the best vintage Brit bike discussion group on the planet. Best regards! Henry

for those of you seeing this feature Morgan has turned it off. WHAT? Two days after I find out about this brilliant board feature and use it every hour now, it's going to be turned OFF? I won't be able to navigate, won't be able to see what's coming, life will hardly be worth living. Turn it back ON, PLEEEEZZZ ...... ! Lannis
