Ive looked at my parts book and some pictures online but i cant seem to figure out where the the center stand spring on my constellation is supposed to go.

ive got the stub located on the right of the center stand that the end of the spring goes around but i dont know where the other end is actually supposed to go.
Could anyone send me a picture of where this thing goes, and if you have a suggestion for a spring to use that would be great.

ive got a tab mounted now where i thought it would go but i would need quite a long spring and think it might look funny.

Red, the upper end of the spring attaches to a tab attached to the upper gearbox studs The tab is formed at the end of a metal plate that's about 5/8" wide and held in place by the nuts on the gearbox studs,
I'll check to see if I have one to spare.

The spring is quite long,

i never would have guessed that. Makes alot more sense than where i thought it was going to go. i cant seem to find it in my parts book.

You rebuilt the mag on this bike. i email you a while back about some alternator issues i was having and helped me out. Ended up ditching the original output control and installed a rectifier-regulator that works awesome. The bike hauls ass too!

Dylan, I'm pleased that it all worked out to your satisfaction :-)
The part you need for your Constellation is shown on page 41 of the parts book. It is drawing reference #27, and part number 34920. Really easy to make from a short piece of steel strapping. The spring is part number 37891.
The later bikes had a cast alloy bracket to better tie the rear of the gearbox to the frame, and those models had a small nubbin on that bracket, for the spring.

RIco, this photo......Total hijack but here goes.

I see in the background your GS scrambler rear sprocket is a bolt on but with the steel backing plate. I don't think that is a stock setup so here's my question. What did you have to do to make that work? I'm wanting to do the same thing on a bike I am piecing together and I just started mocking up the rear brake and sprocket last weekend. Thanks. Maybe we can switch over to PM and then I will delete this post.

Oh, and I like your Connie, I also have a '59 Connie project waiting for some attention.
