My rider wants to go there….the bike has not been started in four years…

JH,Exactly, lol….but I did rotate the engine a bit ever few months…Today….oiled the valves with enough to drip down on the cams…A bit of oil in the cylinders…cranked it over with the roller starter to check for oil pressure..got a new battery…, tomorrow, fire it up, leak down and compression checks, if ok, it’s good to go racing, Giddy Yap! I won’t be going on the trip for a variety of reasons….

I plan to take mine to World of Speed in September. It's a smaller group, cheaper hotel rates, and It fits my schedule better. Runs under SCTA rules and is associated with them.
The Speed Weeks event is bigger, but you don't necessarily get more runs, rooms are scarce and more money so you need to get reservations made sooner. I don't think the motels allow you to cancel late, so check that as well.
Hope to see your bike there.

Life's uncertain - go fast now! Anything worth doing is worth doing well. Steve said that. Anything worth doing well is worth teaching to others. I said that.
I don’t know just yet what meet he’s going to..Speed week is a circus ….And likely to late now to reserve a motel room..He does have an RV…he does have money, lol..

From what I read, the SCTA or maybe just Bonneville Speed Week is very fussy about gasoline.I belive you can only use what is sold on the site..Oxygen enhanced gas may not be ok in gas class…I bought a 5 gallon can of VP C12 yesterday, $112 with tax…All that tetraethyl lead makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside…

Well, this is NY…..I’m surprised the state has not made it a Capital Crime to have race fuel. Probably a few quarts will be used in the 650 bike for start up and brief rides on the road…Pete Suchawreck wants a gallon or two…The rest will find it’s way into my street bikes..

is this the bub motorcycle speed trials, or an inheritor?
im ignorant
Kevin, Like koncretekid mentioned, WoS is smaller that Speed Week and is sanctioned under the SCTA rules and regs.I do believe the Bub event follows different sanctioning rules outside of the SCTA.

a few years ago tyler malenky went tits up on his 650 running over the automobile ruts. broke his arm.
motorcycles and automobiles dont get along on the salt, i think
Cars and bikes both share at WoS as well but I do recall when Tyler had his incident, the salt was very thin compiled with the tire ruts....made it dangerous for us 2 wheelers.

BUB is sanctioned by the AMA and FIM where, I do believe, SCTA is stand alone but covers all other events at Bonneville and El Mirage. If I were to run at either El Mirage or Bonneville, I would chose the SCTA as these records, at least to me, are more prestigious and world recognized.

World of Speed (Spet.9-12) is $580.00 if you pre-register before July 15th assuming your bike already has the SCTA log book and sticker. The current record in M/PG-650 is 123.983mph

Does the World of Speed have cars making ruts? Lol…..

I think it really depends on the condition of the salt. My experience with "ruts" was more in the first half mile of the 3 mile run where the push vehicles were running. The Bub event is probably a cool site to see with nothing but motorcycles but it is really cool seeing the old hot rods and pourpouse built LSR vehicles reaching speeds of 200-300+ mph.

The decision is up to my rider, I don’t plan to be there..He likes a circus so ….I will have put a few jet sets in plastic pill containers and label them for the approximate air density….he has little knowledge about engine tuning..The bike ran 133 at Maine so it should be competitive at ‘El Mirage or Bonneville If the jetting is reasonable.. But with the expenses and long ride just being there should be good enough…

I started the bike today after a four year snooze… Blew out some oil smoke for a few minutes then cleared out….Checking the compression on a warm engine is only 75 psi on both cylinders using the roller starter that spins it fast…Do a leak down test tomorrow..It certainly feels like high compression when kicking it… This is warm engine start up..Idles like a stock T120
