I'm installing a sidestand on a frame that did not originally come with one. What I need your opinions on is the lean angle and also the forward "kick" of the stand - as shown in these two photos...

Do I need to decrease the lean angle? (I know I have enough of a lean but could it be too much?)
When swung out, the kickstand needs to go past 90 degrees "over center" so it won't roll back and have the bike fall. Do I need more than I have? I didn't measure it but you should be able to tell from the photo.

Either adjustment is not difficult to change.
Thanks
Al

Al,

It looks like it is sitting just right to me!

I have that problem with my 1957 6T Thunderbird. It was missing the side stand lug and I had a replacement welded on. However, it is just a tad too steep of an angle. I am always searching for that side stand from several different models that might "fix" the problem.

It looked like it was leaning too much so I measured the two of my bikes that are on their side stands. It's hard to get accurate measurements but both are ~5-6 degree, while I measure yours to be 12 degrees. Also, when you turn your front wheel to the left, the tilt will increase (my measurements were with the wheels turned to the left).

I might tweak it a little. Like MM said - I looked at the other two bikes in the garage and they are less of an angle. Adjustment is easy - heat and bend. It's not bolted on yet, only clamped in place. The mount is on the end of a plate that bolts across the bottom of the frame (under an engine mount plate that is welded across the top of the frame tubes).
The other issue of the forward "kick" angle - I will check the mount on the frame the kickstand came from and see what angle that had. It's off a Cagiva and the frame is out behind the garage.
Thanks very much.

Interestingly, the "kick angle" or over center angle of the Cagiva kickstand was also about 6 degrees.
