Hello,

I have a 1969 BSA Firebird Scrambler that could use a new paint job, I want to keep it original, does any body know what the paint codes are? Also, I will need new decals for the side covers, is there a good source for them?

Thanks

Perfect copies of the decals come from the BSA OC UK , the Vintage MCC UK. There is no colour code for the Firebird so you will have to wait till those who have repainted their bikes to tell you what they used .

In the US House of Kolors Candy Apple Red is the modern equivalent, your choice as to whether you go for a silver or gold base. The factory changed from silver to gold at some point, gold will give a warmer colour. Other choice is the number of coats of the coloured lacquer, 4 to 5 but depends on the painter and how thick the coat. No clear coat was applied but 2k clear coat over the lot including decals will be a lot more durable.

To be authentic the side covers shouldn't quite color match each other , or the gas tank .
and one side of bike should show some showroom window sun-fade .
