Breaking my B25 down finally (after 6 years). Put the valve cover through the ultrasonic tank and noticed all this flashing. Also some serious scoring on the inside of the intake valve. The scoring is fixable, but what about this flashing? Thanks in advance! Alex Ps: just noticed I have to upload photos to the net first. Is there a way to just upload photos via my iPhone? Will upload pics this evening!

If you are a premium member, photos can be uploaded directly from an iPhone. (Providing they are not screen shots, for some reason the file type used for screen shots seems to be different and the site doesn’t recognize them)
Now let’s all have a beer 68’ A65 Lightning “clubman” 71’ A65 823 Thunderbolt (now rebuilt) 67’ D10 sportsman (undergoing restoration) 68’ D14 trials (undergoing transformation)

Thanks for the information Allan! I may need to become a premium member. In the meantime here are the pictures I promised. You can see the flashing on the left side from about the 7- 10 o’clock position.

Flashing is not normal but doing no harm but worth removing. Valves do not have internals, do you mean scoring on stem.

The scoring I mean is inside the valve cover. See attached picture!

That scoring is just tooling marks where the opening was machined out to size, nothing to be concerned about.

That scoring is just tooling marks...... Rough, nasty, dull tool tooling marks.

That scoring is just tooling marks...... Rough, nasty, dull tool tooling marks. Yep, but it’s not a fashion parade. These would have probably been done on piece work, the more that was done, they more they got paid. It wasn’t a visual part of the piece so appearance didn’t matter. These machining marks are on lots of castings in areas where the finish doesn’t detract from its performance.
