Is the Tygon tube found in a hardware store the same as reference here:

https://www.britbike.com/forums/ubb...guys-using-for-clear-gas-line#Post853318

They don’t have actual specs available, just the word Tygon.

There are at least a dozen formulations of "Tygon," some that resist gasoline and ethanol, and some that don't. I don't think there's any way of knowing what your hardware store stocks without visiting them and googling the code printed on the tubing to find its specification.

Make sure there is a code actually printed on the side, there are plenty of copies purporting to be Tygon but with no code at all and are something else altogether

For those of us in the US, Aircraft Spruce & Specialty is a very good and reliable supplier of Tygon tubing.

Wanna know just how many emails I get from O/S trying to sell me
"OEM fuel tube in popular yellow color" ?
Genuine Tygon fuel line will be printed in almost a complete stripe along the length
Try to ignite it , as soon as the flame is taken away it will go out

We use T4040 at work, the tubing gets changed annually (due to the hot oil enviroment and performing under vacuum) on our test equipment. I take the scraps and re-use them as fuel line. The wall thickness isn't as much as some of the pvc tubing you see so it remains flexible (doesn't support its own weight) but it works really well as fuel hose, if i remember right, the manufacturer is Saint Gobain.

Never bought fuel line at the hardware store, but I would hope that if it's hung in the section for lawnmower parts it's good for fuel.
However, Ace sells a lot of plastic tubing for different purposes.

Fuel grade Tygon is either yellow or smokey.
The other little trap is it comes in different wall thicknesses.
Heavy wall for suction lines & light wall for delivery line
The heavy wall 1/4" id line is fine for motorcycles but standard 2 or 3 layer rubber is a lot cheaper .
Considering the price compared to other materials I would be surprised of a hardwaer store would sell it bulk
