e-mailing an interesting reply to yourself? Now it goes to Clipboard. What's that?

Don't know what you're getting at Desco, the clipboard is a computer memory area for transfer between applications, eg when copy and pasting.

Apparently, when he clicked on the "share" button, he chose the first option and disregarded the rest. See attached pic.

The only thing that comes up on my computer is "Copy link to clipboard". None of the rest of that stuff.

Uh-huh,

More details are needed. What type of computer? What operating system? So many variables that are key to understanding your predicament....just like diagnosing why your bike won't start.

newer Acer desk top. Windows 10. Can't find any of the booklets that came with it. Never cared much for how it works, just that it does. Everything updates automatically so I don't know what version of anything. I just use the copy and paste functions that are in the upper right corner. Used to be a send by e-mail on this site that I could send just the reply or all the posts to someone else or me.

Why do "tech" types need to keep changing things that already work?
I still have a flip phone. Works for me.

In between copy and paste , there is a virtual " clipboard " that holds a virtual "copy" ,

then , when you paste , it copies from this clipboard .

The clipboard is more like a chalkboard where things get erased and overwritten
, cut and copy content lives here temporarily .
It's temporary because depending on size of the clipboard
It can get overwritten by newer cut/copy content .

if you go to your email and hit "paste" it will paste the newest entry , from the top of the clipboard list .

If you have clipboard history enabled , Windows 10 will hold up 25 clipped items ... so you don't have to paste the one from the top of the stack
you can go in and paste any of the last 25 items copied .
you can also delete clipboard items and even "sticky" them .

When you do copy a new item to clipboard , it dumps the oldest clipped item... to make room for the new .
... because the clipboad has Limited memory allocation .

Q Thanks for explaining in plain English with out any computer-eze buzz words. I copied and pasted it to my self in an e-mail so I could print it. I'll do the same to any replies I want to keep.

Same as who? I can live with copy/paste. I know how to do it. Just wonder why we need to fix things that aren't broke.
