Time to consider helping Anna and the Mott family for Anna’s 25th(!!) birthday.

Your support as always is appreciated more than I can ever convey.

A recent post from Melissa...

I miss having a normal life...

The night before, Anna spent hours talking to herself and spelling words as if she were a spelling bee participant.

I spend a lot of time convincing myself, so I can comfort the children, that no one has a perfect life and that we live this pain for a reason, and that all people have pain and hardships.

Social media photos can make it look like we have a perfect life, or have it all together. But none of us do. We all struggle!

The difference for some of us is that we know we don’t have it together and yet we keep getting up and trying again.

All of you who do that, you inspire me!

A recent picture... there is an unintended message in the photo. Do you see it?

Interesting photo. After studying it for just a few moments, SEVERAL aspects of life and difficulties came to me.

Yes, we each have various difficulties in our lives, and some are far more burdensome than others. But, they all eventually end.

I heard a saying that I thought was a joke the other day, that had me belly-laughing and snickering for hours:

"Marriage is like a horse with a broken leg; you can shoot it, but it doesn't fix the leg"

After rolling it through my head for two days, I realized it had a MUCH deeper meaning...

David.......another pledge.......I’ll even it out to 4 if we don’t make it by the time Emma has the check. You know how to get in touch with me.

Bless you for all you’ve done for the Mott’s......it’s been a long haul. I was looking at some old photos of “the boys” back a few years at Iron Horse. I might post a couple when I get home from work today........they are Anna inspired.

Bless each and everyone of you that has taken the time to help.....it started off as a request for “purple” photos. Over a million and a half views later.......we’re still here.

Proud to be a “Friend of the Motts” Gordon in NC

Total raised to date is $4000.

Plan is to give Anna our check next Tuesday June 15.

Nothing magic about an even $4000. $4020 is better!

Still accepting donations till this Friday.

A note from Melissa

Dear Friends,

Pretty sure that not one single time you all have given to us, shown us love through cards, notes, photos, gifts, or Anna's monetary birthday gift like this, that we haven't been overwhelmed and humbled to our cores.

Every time I cry and think I've good-cried all my tears out, then you go and show us love like this and you drain my eyes again!

To each and every one of you who gave to our family, in honor of this young woman's birthday:

A million, zillion, billion thank you's would never be enough to tell you what it means and does, for her, and our family.

Every supplement, doctor copay, Chickfila number one meal on a crappy Monday....every need, and sometimes want she has, we are only able to cover because of you all.

And friends, stuff like that is eternal kinda jazz. Loving on folks like you have us goes way yonder beyond just this life.
We love you and are so humbled. You have done something beyond telling.

Love, The Mott Family
Aka Anna's Servants, Chuckle Makers, Bath Givers, Chauffeurs, Personal Assistants, and Blessed Caregivers

God Bless Anna Mott

Word has it Anna visited a couple of Britbike miscreants this past weekend in North Carolina.

Maybe we will get a report on how the visit was...

Melissa, Steve and Anna....Robert and his wife and a friend of Robert's from his Dual Sport group and his wife (really nice folks....which wasn't a surprise) .....and me.

Robert wanted to visit with the Motts and asked me if I would be there for lunch on Saturday. Of course when you tell someone "If there's anything I can do..." you gota follow that up.

Our first choice for lunch had a one hour+ wait for seating so Robert picked out another spot he knew of. This ended up being perfect and we got seated right away. Lunch was good.........the overall mood was good.

Anna looks better.......she's gained some weight and doesn't look so frail. Melissa and Steve.........what can you say about them....they are hero's in my book.

Robert.........is keeping a good attitude. He wanted to show his wife why he loved the area. Took her (in the pickup) down some of the roads they use for the Dual Sport he helps host. He's starting to look a little beat up......we didn't talk about his situation much because they didn't want Anna to know. He's starting a clinical trial soon and fingers crossed it does the trick

Anna was at her best.........of course I've never met the "before" Anna.....so I don't have much to compare it to. She seemed to be having a good time. But it would only last for a bit and she would get a little anxious and things would have to change. Life with the brain damaged.

I'm glad I made the trip. Been over two years since I saw the Motts. Wanted to see Robert.......did NOT want to say goodbye. Robert's friends were a joy to be around and really added to the whole thing.

BritBike.com picked up the lunch tab and paid for their motel rooms..........Bless you all for that.

Gordon in NC and a friend of the Motts.

PS: I took a camera but it just didn't seem like a good time to be taking photos so I only took one.......then deleted it. Sorry.

PSS: Little Switzerland, Linville Falls area, North Carolina

Kinda started a few weeks earlier. The Motts were to visit here in Charleston, and at the last minute, there was a covid exposure to Olivia, so we prudently cancelled.

All along, the wife and I were talking about a trip to the mountains. As those plans were getting close to action, I said "Hey. maybe the Motts wanna make the trip!". A quick web search showed it would be 1 less hour of travel for them each way! With short notice, the Motts were able to sign on to the trip.

We wanted to stay at my favorite motel in Little Switzerland, but sadly they didnt have rooms for us. But they did have "A" room, which my club buddy and SO scooped up. Room rates at Big Lynn Lodge are very reasonable, and when you consider the dinner and breakfast that are included, the value is clear.

My club guy informed us who had scooped up almost all the rooms! A knitting convention had taken over the Lodge! Only saw 2 motorcycles when I went through the property. Everywhere else, knitting needles and skeins of yarn ruled the Blue Ridge! Damn knitters!

We stayed at an interesting place, the Alpine Inn. I will label the place "excellently adequate"! One TV one the property, in the guest lounge. No AC, thankfully the weather made that not an issue. There was a portable fan with the room, but very glad I had packed one of our own to carry. Lovely spot, nice views, great sunrise! Staff is friendly and accommodated with some of our less than common requirements.

I would stay at Alpine Inn again, but will always check Big Lynn first! And would only stay at Alpine if the day's high temps were 80 or less.

Miss Anna, what a mess! She was very excited to see the Beard Brothers again! So good to see her again! Steve and Melissa, my heroes! I have spent a little time with them over the years, and get a glimpse of what their daily life is; heros may be too weak a term for their strength!

Lil Miss prayed for me Sunday morning, I cant think of anyone else I'd prefer for that duty.

Food? Follow me around, you'll eat well. Had plans B,C and D to fall back on if my first choice didnt work. We ended up with a few very nice pizzas, and GG with a fantastic looking salad! Saturday night we ate at the local golf course. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Atmosphere was a little blah, but service was good, besides, who eats atmosphere? My friend Mr Tanner picked up that tab, many thanks bud!

Sunday we all went our ways, Motts headed home, and the missu and I headed to Cherokee NC for one more night. Hadnt ever been to a casino before, but as the day wound down, missus wanted to rest, a bit tired after our busy weekend, so we went down to the river behind our room and collected some river rocks, as tube rentals floated by from time to time. Ate Indian Tacos at a local joint Sunday night, Indian folks ran the place and ate there too. Found them tasty, not highly spiced, and the frybread base was new to me. I would eat them again in a skinny minute.

I want to thank GG/bb.com for picking up the rooms and lunch! I was stuck with the protein shake bill! Lil Miss loves chocolate, and my brand of shakes have minimal sugars; a treat for her that isnt loaded up with ungood stuff! Pro tip for Anna visitors...peanut M&M's, Chic-Fil-A and low cal chocolate protein shakes will put a HUGE smile on her face!

In the near future, I will be transferring control of my dual sport website to others so it can continue catering to that sport, rather than someone else starting over again from scratch. If you like any of my pix, download them. Before I transfer the website, I will be deleting my personal pix, so get them if you want them!

Reports are that a good time was had by all! LilMiss enjoys a good car ride in the twisties! She also loves the peace and quiet. Alpine Inn may have an edge on the peace and quiet, despite being on a little loop of great roads that circle Little Switzerland. Staff burned a small campfire every evening, plenty of good seating around the fire pit.

Word is that we really gave Anna a good run, with lots of extra naps since they got back home!

I got what I consider the best gift of all, a prayer for me personally! I mean, who better to lobby the Big Guy for a miracle than someone who received one?

Not to get pushy on the subject, but sometimes people we'd otherwise never get to know, change our lives forever. That kid is a fighter in both the physical and spiritual realms. I sure am happy to pray for anyone who takes the time to PM me; it's a boost for me, personally and I need them from time to time like everyone else...
