I have noticed the last few years that there are no new faces at the tsmr or the tsmr, or the reunion ride.

I was wondering if the new bb.c inmates are even aware we have these going on. I know we have the events board, but who looks at all the different boards, and many are not aware that is there.

Actually there was several people at Windy's this year that I had no idea who they were.

Group photos were a nice way of keeping up.....but that seems to have gone away for now.

I agree that we all need to get new blood involved.... Im bring one to the OSMR so maybe he can come to the TSMR too... Meeting other like minded youngsters at the Brooklyn two wheel tuesday meets ... One guy has several old bikes and a vespa... He just rode the vespa to Richmond VA so I know he is not afraid to long haul it.... His triumph is in the shop getting a total motor rebuild so he could be up for anything ... Time will tell... Once we show them how fun we are then the world is an oyster ...

No Richrd..........those are clams and mussels. Oysters live in beds.......above the muck. They are harvested by raking them off the beds....no digging involved.

Been years since I've worked with them but I have plenty of old scars from raking/shucking them.

I like my oyster fried, that way I know my oysters died.

What does any of this have to do with BB.c get togethers and bringing in new blood? Anybody who does not know that's reading this will think that BB.c stands for Belly Busters.com.

Richard, this well intentioned post would almost certainly find a larger audience, possibly of newer people, if posted on the BritBike [email protected] group page.
Notice it immediately went off topic, with very little response here, absolutely zero response from anybody new.

Tom (aka ricochetrider)........brother it's Richrd we're dealing with here. Ever tried to just text him? Facebook??.......notgonahappen.

He has a way of stirring things up.........his way and we love him for it.

This site has GROWN a lot since the early days. Not sure if "bb.com" events will still continue the way they used to but some folks are still trying.

We started getting together so folks could meet face to face....... LOTS of long term friendships grew out of those events. Lots of GREAT memories.

There are still ways out there to meet BB.comers and get a hand shake.

Various other events throughout the year where members will post they will attend.

Maybe not attended like they were in the past but still out there. I do believe this years OSMR might be the best attended so far for this event.

We're still here trying.....Mike G's OSMR is this September in Coudersport PA.......there will be some new faces there ( to me at least) and just maybe we'll have someone ( or 5) just show up........EVERYONE is welcome and you'll fit in better than you expected.

I'd like to see the metrics on when exactly all this growth happened. Ask @Morgan how that's going these days, we might find out the major growth of this site happened at least 8-10 years ago but has fallen off since. I'd be willing to bet that the current majority of new members here are here strictly for technical expertise, as required. Sure, a few pop in to chirp up in the R&T but traffic in the "pub" is not currently what it once was. Perhaps, in general, forum traffic has fallen off now that (almost) everyone (worldwide, even in remote, 3rd world, & developing countries) has a mobile phone. I regularly visit a handful of Internet forums: motorcycle forums, photography forums, car & truck forums... many if not most have recognized reduced traffic and some such as this site are trying to stay abreast of the curve by adding [email protected] group pages. Some forums (think: advrider) are doing analytics and crunching numbers and scratching their heads trying to figure out why people are "leaving". Advrider particularly, has changed the face of the forum and now has a home page featuring articles and all manner of [email protected] in the name of holding peoples' interest... not sure of that's a win, lose, or draw but it is what it is over there.

Maybe it comes down to simplicity. Could be a time and effort thing. It takes "WAY more" time and energy to log into a website (after you open your browser) than to simply pop open an app and have the World at your fingertips. In today's world where things happen in increments of micro seconds, speed and ease of access is everything.

THAT SAID,
Maybe actual participation has dropped off while lurking and looking still runs pretty strong? For example my thread this summer has over 4,000 views but only a couple people have bothered to comment- even when I've asked for commentary.

Whatever. I'm one who likes to use everything at my disposal to accomplish whatever it is. Internet forums, related fb groups, social media pages or outlets, are just tools. One does not build a house with just a hammer. Certainly there will be some crossover activity between platforms, but no single "tool" will reach the whole audience.
