This morning I reminded my wife that I was going away this weekend .... She complained but .... no worries.... Then 20 minutes later two clients called and put me on hold for Friday .... That might put a damper on my plans..... But fingers crossed I can still make it... Gotta be back in the City for Monday morning too... This could get crazy....

Go for the usual spot first. It is relatively level. I can park where RT used to park.

After saying three or four years ago that I'd try never to miss it again, I'm going to miss it again. Granddaughter's birthday, big party at our place with masses of grilled meat and just as massively illegal fireworks, and two relatives of my parents generation (in their 80s and 90s) will be there, very possibly for the last time.

Hope everyone has a great time!

Lannis

Hey, how did the OVBSAOC Summer Rally come off?

Mrs. Miller's food caravans still cooking?
Any action at the Swap Meet?
Decent weather?
Anyone we know win that lovely B33 Raffle Bike? (I know I haven't gotten a call yet!)
Anyone ride the Reliability Run?

Sorry to have missed it, but we did have a lovely time here with the family, 18 of us, great food and drink, lots of time on the target ranges, kids swimming in the river, and a fireworks show with 500G Tennessee-procured fireworks that would have had us all summoned if the bronze had taken an interest ....

Mrs. Miller is no more, she passed in June

I didn't buy a single thing. Sold a few things though. Just not enough

Great weather

I didn't get the call either.

Jeff Keller got the trophy for oldest BSA. He rode on his Victor

Was dissapointed to hear of Mrs Mary passing. Rode a little over 300 miles the 4 days I was there and managed to take some photos while walking around the meet. I did manage to score a complete rear disc setup off a late T140 I will be fitting to my 1972 A65 LSR bike.

Hey, thanks for the info and the pics! Just makes me miss it more, unfortunately.

Mrs. Miller had gone through some hard times. Last time I talked to her (2019, I think), she said that some family members had gotten into her savings and stolen quite a bit of money from her, and she didn't know what she was going to do. Hope it wasn't any of the family that worked in her stands; that sort of thing is a real shame.

It's odd - when I first started riding a BSA up there 22 years ago, I would get from home to Elkins or Buckhannon WV on the first night, get a motel, and make the rest of the trip the next day. Part of that was because when I was working, I could only get half a day vacation on Thursday, so I'd take off Thursday afternoon, get to Elkins on US219 or 250 or 33, then show up at the rally on Friday. And since festivities didn't end until 4:00 or so on Sunday, I'd try to make it back to halfway home by dark on Sunday afternoon, and finish the trip on Monday.

Very hard to do that now. In 2000 to 2012, there were three decent cheap motels in Elkins, generally about empty so you didn't even have to call ahead. Now, there are two flea-trap motels, two decent ones that aren't cheap, and ALL of them are booked solid months ahead of time. Partly recreational and partly gas-field and pipe-line workers ... Not as much fun as it used to be, that ride ....

All right! All is right with the world, as a matter of fact ... Bill at breakfast, the HBCC in place, a Henderson that is BOUND to be Andy Tarnic's (who else brings $100,000 bikes to the meet and rides them around?) ... Whose is the yellow Victor in front of the HBCC? "Just Visiting" or a new acquisition ... ?

The Victor is Jeff Keller’s. You would re ognize him as he has spent some time hanging out, but he now seems a regular.
