Yesterday I went to look at a Sportster for sale and the owner showed me his assortment of bikes, including what appears to be a '72 TR6R built into an original TT racer. He's looking to sell it, so I offered to post it here.
The provenance is a little unclear, but he told me it has never been registered as it was built as a race bike from new. I did confirm the numbers match and the serial number starts with NG, which I think indicates a bike assembled in late '71 and sold as a '72.
I didn't spend enough time looking at the bike, but what I can see from this picture he sent me today, it was the real deal...new front end (Cerriani forks?), pretty serious front brake, left-hand brake lever, custom swing arm and rear brake, shouldered rims...
He hasn't listed it for sale yet. If interested, feel free to call him directly. He's thinking in the range of $5K for the bike. His name is John (928) 230-9999 in Phoenix. Good guy.
See the image of the bike later in this thread....
