So I get suckered into doing another 150 motor and as always everything is a mystery. the rods and cams look brand new but there is a thick mass of dirt and sludge in the timing side case and the transmission. the first guys that tried to rebuild this engine after holing a piston bent all six pushrods.
what are these adjusters.? there is a captive steel ball. with a flat on one side and free to rotate.

Generally referred to as T160 adjusters, sometimes Ducati adjusters.

Yeah stock, a couple of different lengths though I think [early and later], check but yours are probably for your bike. They are a good thing, but when adjusting them don't screw the adjuster out too far, only far enough to slide a feeler gauge under them. If you screw the adjuster out too much they can flip over and then the half ball is out of position. This can hammer the ball and it gets 'stuck', takes a fair bit of patience and time to get it right again.

Yeah, those came stock from 74 on. The flat side goes on the valve stem. Must use the later short stem valves with these adjusters.
