Wife and loaded bike on way to west coast. Spent 2 weeks and had $350 when we left. Stayed in motel 1 night and tented the rest. Had $50 left when we got home.
Next trip made sure to have bags and fairing.

Beach, did your wife have to ride on top of the luggage?
She must be an understanding and adventurous woman!

My wife took two long motorcycle trips with me, before we both "settled down" and attempted to be "respectable."

Lol. No, had a luggage rack and her being small helped. I called it a custom back rest.

My cousin mike liked to carry his girl friend (later, wife) behind him as a "back rest."

Like your wife, his girl Marilyn was also small, but Marilyn had a BIG chest, and that helped!

Nice pix!
My GF traveled all the way to Canada & back on the K1200... not nearly as impressive a feat as two-up, cross country, with @$$es and gear flopping about in the wind!

and oh BTW making it all that way and back home with 50.00 left over is sweet too.
Back in the 70s, every tripI took
I came rolling in on fumes,
not having eaten for a couple days,
and out of dope too! laughing

Running out of dope is simply poor planning, shame on you!

Back in 79 I got home from work one Friday night and my roommate says "wanna go to Florida?" I said okay, we're in Ohio. Four days later we hit Cincinnati, two hour south of home flat broke with a !/4 tank of gas we made it home but the next day he ran out gas on the way to the gas station 4 blocks away

When given the choice between two evils I picked the one I haven't tried before

Once a friend and I drove from Knoxville to St. Louis to collect another friend. 71 VW camper bus.
Took us about 8 hours to get there. 24 hours to get back, but we bought some pot in St. Louis. laughing
