Has anyone had any experience of machining out a B44 cylinder liner and fitting one of the available new liners, pit falls or comments??

I've never tried it, but my understanding is that when boring out the liner on B44 cylinders, you might experience voids in the cylinder casting. Presumably if you experience this you would need to keep boring oversize until you have clean metal all around.

Yes you have to bore it out as the sleeve is ribbed on the OD and cast in, how much you need to bore out I left to the machinist who also sourced the replacement.

thanks for that, I was just worried there might be horror stories! It does make you wonder why BSA cast the liner in with the ribs on the B44 but not the B25, B40 or even the B50, 'suppose the reason is lost in the mists of time, if there ever was one.
