...the thing is a work of art and still looks Triumph not like the Velocette in the Pub s thread.
He says that is all based on ideas; for sure and this streamlined has plenty but also rely on Nitro; with a bike with 2 valves (4) without fairing and nitro you cannot do too much; all was done.
I am not a fan of these rockets but still this one is ok but most are not motorcycles; are just a rocket with 2 wheels.

.Alp is very good with nitro engines.... It would be interesting to see how it goes tuned for gasoline. At any rate, we thought the speed was the alien bike design....looks like the speed is in the engine,or at least in the fuel mix...

well, if can do 177 with the one in the photograph. 200 on the streamliner is probably doable on a good day.

here is the source of my confusion. his first 170+ record was with the alien bike, except he used the large single tank he occasionally ran in earlier machines instead of the two narrow ones he apparently used to set all the AVF records. i guess because he needed so much fuel. sometimes there's a rear wheel disk, sometimes there isn't:

the second nitro machine appears to use the frame and fuel tank he originally had on his first production-frame bike, the one that had the 1930's girder front end and spoked wheels:

that one morphed into the manta, i believe, MVG:

and maybe into the recent nitro bike-- 756? maybe just the frame? both are 1950 pre-units:

the alien bike is in a museum for a year somewhere, and so currently he's running the streamliner and this other nitro bike. . . . .the number is 756, so it appears to be the reincarnation of the old 756 manta, which was the old 100 original. . . . the alien and the streamliner too (i think, i'm not sure anymore) are sometimes shown without the rear wheel disk, and have the same tri-spoke rear wheel as the new nitro bike and the RC Components front wheel, which are also used by tyler and kyle malenky.but then he appears to use the same numbers on different machines. dunno how that works

his new bike is faster than stink, with the head reversed like the streamliner, but hasn't done the two-way average yet to match the nitro alien.

but he'll do it. it appears he can eventually do anything he wants to. the guy's a fucking genius.

i was thinking about the magneto drive just tonight, whether the cams were symmetrical.

not doin it yet. i think i still have gains to make in chassis and rider flexibility. after i can bend myself into a pretzel i'll think about a backwards head.

it would sure solve intake clearance issues, though.

I think the Sifton 390 cams in my bike are symmetrical, but would have to check to be sure...So flip around the head, retime the cams, fabricate exhaust pipes...And away we go.....
But........But my original idea was using as many Triumph parts as possible to keep the bike a "Triumph"....I might be the only guy still using a stock primary/clutch ,lol.I was really reluctant to replace a Triumph fuel tank with tube tanks..Once the head is flipped, late model wheels, aero devices,and so on.....It's my opinion the concept of Modified Production is lost...

i like the idea of modified production too, but it's a really slippery concept, if we're meaning street-based hotrods. what people consider "modified" isn't a standard picture. probably tom's hornet and chris's A10 are least ambiguous, with side covers, a stock tank, front brake, hot rod seat, and so on. stuff you would have to have to be street legal.

but do you need a charging system? lights? pump gasoline? mudguards? decibel limits? motor, tank, forks, and wheels from a matching year frame?

my bike is made up of stuff that spans 50s, 60s, and 70s . . . maybe 80s, too, if the front end is that new. where's the line?

in the end, i think we're all just realizing a vision of what we would most like to run at the track, and we're all fitting into "modified production" mostly because the category is so vague. SCTA is lots clearer, with only production and modified. but then there's no middle ground for people like us, who generally share the same picture.

Notice the AMAL carbs, velocity stacks and K&N filters...It ran 120 at Ohio as you see it with a stock T120 head....The32mm Amals were too rich with a 270 main jet but smaller jets made the engine misfire at high rpms...I believe now the Pazon Surefire was unable to fire a .028 plug gap at 7000 rpm with a leaner jet

Lean at part throttle, yes...Before maybe the late 1990's it was typical of automotive carbs and Fuel injection to use a 16-1 or so mixture at part throttle.. The lean mixture required as much as 55 degrees total advance to burn completely depending on several factors..The extra advance was added with a vacuum servo(points and some EI )or electronically at light load/high intake vacuum..
At larger throttle openings I believe different stuff is going on...And the lean mixture will primarily cause a misfire, hesitation and or detonation at the normal advance timing curve...Pazon suggested a Smartfire if I wanted to run wider plug gaps..I did that and no more misfiring, but the engine was tuned differently...

Wider gaps can help mask reversion or lean hesitation if the ignition has energy to fire them..Longer duration spark can do the same. Some say magnetos have a long spark duration...Some engines may make a bit more power with a wider gap..
Your Buell engine has a vacuum device to advance timing at light engine loads..

spark gap and duration is one of those things that fascinate me. does a big flame kernel that's harder to fire balance a little tiny one that shoots earlier and more reliably?

morris magnetos and joe hunt magnetos are modern and better-built clones of the old fairbanks morse units.

can my pazon do this?

interesting looking at an MPS like alps in a wind tunnel. this is from 2011. look at how the air stays stuck to the rider's back all the way from his helmet to the end of the machine. hardly any turbulence back there to suck him backwards. there's a layer of turbulence all around the sticky-out bits of the rider about 4 inches thick, then the flow goes laminar again in an envelope. that just makes the total frontal area bigger by 4 inches all the way around. if they had constrained the rider to a tighter position they could reduced the drag even more, but it might have made the machine more difficult to control.

i completely missed this in october. alp has qualified for bonneville's long course. he's up to 180 mph one way:
