While looking through my 72 parts book I noticed the carb settings were different from the 71.

71 MJ 200 NJ .106, slide 3, Needle position 1

72 MJ 220 NJ .105, slide 3, needle position 1

looks like the 72 got a leaner middrange and richer at full throttle.


Any 72 owners out there care to comment? or anybody.

Don't trust the parts book, best to go by what AMAL list as this is what the bikes would have actually been fitted with

For the US market AMAL made some longer and fatter needles which lean the mixture a little , probably not as much as moving the clip a notch. But I don't think these were used until the end of the MK1 usage, and possibly on the Triumphs.

I'm pretty sure without looking at my book that AMAL list 71-72 carbs as the same jetting
