Thanks pokie, that clears up that one. present mufflers have a cut out for shock clearance so might be from a 68 FS or unit single high pipe. The hunt continues.

RGSRob,...What`s the icon for dummkopf? I mistakenly gave you the measurement for `68 FS muffs (23"), but recovered my sanity and measured my `69-`70 FS ones, and they`re 22". Neither set has cut-outs, and I don`t recall that `71 had them either. I believe at one time I sold a set for TR6 Triumph Trophy that had the reliefs, but I have no Triumph reference now to verify......????

![[Linked Image]](http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s63/Brittwit1/100_3035_zps2ab3341a.jpg) I recently pawned this off on Pokie. I always thought it was a custom paint job.

Thanks for checking Pokie, I found that late A10 measure 22" so may go that way as I can get get a set. The penny dropped on the mufflers with the cut out. pretty sure they turn out to be high level unit single items(250?) I just happen to have two of them.

Hmmm, Very interesting.
Made me get up and go measure the mufflers a fellow OV member gave me for my F B project; they are the 23" ones... And it's 15 degrees out there! BRRR!
Thanks for these tidbits!
Do '69 F B's utilise folding front footpegs???
P.S. I've got what I think are a pair of triumph mufflers, they are only 18-7/8" long, and use a curved strap bolted onto them to hang from the frame... The straps Sort of look like those Egyptian sickle knives??? Edge-wise? I think??? If I'm gonna use them somewhere, I'm gonna have to find a set of straps, or try to make a pair...
NOT trying to hyjack this thread. These misc. mufflers just popped into my head, along with thinking about the F B stuff... NO idea just which model these misc. mufflers actually originally fit...

Rickman,...glad to help. And yes, folding footpegs are correct. On the tank...Fleetstars are pretty thin on the ground in Yankee-land, so thanks to SidSnot for the enlightening photo (Very nice FS, too). I also thought the tank from BritTwit was FS, with paint done by an acid head in Escondido. Cautionary tale here: BritTwit is ruthless and brutal in negotiating...I have wounds still healing from the tank deal. Peligro! Good thing he has a great sense of humor.

Balz,...Too bad BSA did not ID stamp their mufflers the way they stamped their pipes. My 3 different sized high-pipe muffs {22", 22 5/8", and 23") are stock BSA items, and 1 Toga (22 3/8"). They are all the same dimensions but for the outlet tube lengths, which appear unmolested with a hacksaw. The Toga has a slightly shorter chamber and less finishing on the welds. Nevertheless, any of the 3 are at least 3 inches shorter than the 26" one in question, which solves the overhang prob. And of course we know BSA never had production variations, running design changes, or supplier issues with quality compliance. In the end, whatever works and looks right...use it.

![[Linked Image]](http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s63/Brittwit1/100_3035_zps2ab3341a.jpg) I recently pawned this off on Pokie. I always thought it was a custom paint job. Funny that it is so similar to SidSnots tank And a Fleetstar tank. ![[Linked Image]](http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc500/T160sid/Fleetstartank_zps0d179792.jpg) This would appear to be the same as a '70 F B but with holes for a parcel rack. I guess these could be filled and painted over. Cheers Sid. I never heard of a Fleetstar. What did they look like? Does BritTwin's have the parcel rack holes as well?

I never heard of a Fleetstar A Fleetstar is a variation of the B25 for Fleets in the UK, eg The Post Office, Police etc. Lower compression, valanced front mudguard.

Kommando,..thanks for that. Every photo I had seen of a Fleetstar before had a Royal Mail rider astride, blocking any view of the tank paint scheme.

Pokie
When you stripped the tank, were there signs of parcel rack holes?
If the Fleet Star was a home market bike, wonder how it wound up in Southern California?

B.T. Woodrow,...No rack holes or vestiges thereof. Purely speculation but, perhaps traffic peelers required them for citation pads, and Royal mail had no need...just used panniers. Was taken to SoCal by terrorists?

New arrivals 1970 FireBird Scrambler Stored in a garage for the last 25 years or so. Appears to be all original matching numbers (HD00XXX A65F)except for the older repaint. Still had the original blue on the backside of the side covers. Looks like it has the original Dunlop's. I'll post more images as soon as I give it a bath. ![[Linked Image]](http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s63/Brittwit1/100_3168_zpsl7rgti8w.jpg) 1970 A65L The FB's stable mate. I had to get both as a package deal. I'll probably sell off the Lightning. I did a quick cleanup and it didn't look too bad. The odd color of the cases and primary cover appear to be some kind of varnish or clear coat that went bad. It appears to be fairly unmolested (original bolts, wiring and air cleaners). No silencers and non original horn. Matching numbers (AD04XXX A65L). ![[Linked Image]](http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s63/Brittwit1/100_3167_zpsf19c479a.jpg)

Leon My friend Pokie came through with one. It's now soaking in some Berryman carb cleaner in an attempt to remove the Bar-B-Que sauce.

![[Linked Image]](http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s63/Brittwit1/100_3400_zpsc9vkjhs0.jpg) Finally got the BBQ stains off the exhaust grill that I got from Pokie. Cleaned up nicely. Beautiful chrome under all that dust.

I just received my newly repainted tins back from the painter early this month and am waiting for Spring to arrive so that I can finish it.
