Ok, I'm a bit late into this, but after surfing about, I see PES are making some selector forks for John's 5 speed boxes as of Dec 19. I am doing a winter rebuild at the mo, and I really am wanting a set. It's a double edged sword however, as I love the outrigger plate and the splined clutch centre solution (Far better). BUT I also love my Bob New Clutch and belt drive, which is a taper fit as we know. I am reluctant to go back to a wet clutch, so how can I get round this?

HI Gavin

I'd as Mark (PES) to make you the 5 speed main shaft with a standard A65 taper on it, rather than the split.

my tuppence worth

Quick reply thanks John. So the outrigger plate stays? Maybe you have a splined clutch centre that will fit a Bob Newby drive? I want my cake AND I want to eat it..

I’ve already discussed this with Mark and Bob, when I spoke to Bob he would need to know the spline size, he may want a Main shaft so that he can verify the fit.

Welcome Gavin, have a chat with Bob. He’s a great guy to talk to and has a lot of racing history and knowledge.

Hi Gavin

I only suggested you spoke to Mark and see if you can have your mainsheet made with the standard BSA taper. But yes as Allan also suggested you could ask Bob to make you a new clutch centre. Either of the two solutions will allow you to"have your cake and eat it".

regards

John
