After having worked a long hot day int he sun, I'm enjoying a Southern Tier 2XIPA...which for the uninitiated is a double IPA.

For you IPA lovers out there, eat your hearts out!

Right, Pale and Black at the same time? Not familiar with Southern Tier but should be able to find it here. I'll be on the lookout. IPA's are a favorite. Al.

Southern Tier is good stuff. I'm fortunate enough to live very near theBullfrog Brewery in Williamsport, PA -- home of Edgar IPA. I've had plenty of IPA that I thoroughly enjoyed but none that I can say I liked better.

As far as I can tell, the black stuff's got enough dark malt to color it but it doesn't do anything for flavor.

Much as I like a nice IPA, I've switched to a summer wheat beer since the temps went way up. Just seems a little lighter and easier going down when its hot out.

I was just at the Bullfrog 2 weeks ago and had an Edgar IPA and some kind of cherry wheat that I have forgotten the name of. I can be at the Bullfrog in just about an hour's time.

I don't notice a real difference if any either but the Otter Creek is a good beer. Not Southern Tier or Torpedo or 90 Minute but tasty nonetheless.

I would like to try that Edgar IPA !

I have to confess I am not a real fan of domestic IPA's, most just don't sit well with my taste....

But last year, I tried Great Lakes Brewing Lake Erie Monster just to say I tried it and didn't like it...well things went horribly wrong...I liked it a lot. Just not like it a lot in large quantities as it is 9.1%!

Really tasty if you get a chance to try it.

And there will be a few bottles at Mid Ohio grin

A local PA brewery, Stoudt's in Adamstown makes an American IPA that I consider to be fantastic! I personally am over hops, or beers that are pretty hoppy. So your basic IPA doesn't sit well with me (typically). Some other types of hoppy ales aren't bad tho. Stoudt's makes a hoppy-ish Revel Red that I've had and i find it to be pretty darn good.

There was a nice article in the New York Times last week about craft breweries in London. I understand the focus of the article was to draw folks in who are coming for the Olympics- BUT obviously the writer had no idea that there's been a "craft brewing" craze in England for a long, long time!

All one has to do is to go out to the countryside and look for Ole World pubs, with the words Traditional Ales on the pubs' signage... We drank "craft brewed" ales all over the country in 2008! Absolutely some of the best beers and ales I've ever tasted. :bigt

I've been drinking beer as my end of day "Beverage of choice" for pushing 50 years and believe it of not never tried an IPA domestic or otherwise. Guess I better get with the program. I do like to have something a little different in the fridge now ans then.

Back in my college days there was only two kinds of beer. "Bad old Good", and "Good old Bad". One of the "Good old Bad's" was "Old Boh" and a six pack of 16 ouncers was just $1. What a deal!

If the alcohol content in IPS's is that high, I may be schwocked after two beers...hmmmmmm!
