Yes you connect a car battery but have fuse in place and make sure you do not touch any battery connections to the frame or bike parts, cover them with tape.

Follow TT's instructions when converting 6 to 12V and tape off the spare redundant wires.

How can i test if my Zener diode is working well??

Start the engine and when warm rev the engine with a Volt meter across the battery, the voltage should not go above 14.5V .

Some difulty to understand the differences between headlight main beam and dip beam.
Google translator cant help...

Pilot light is the litle bulb inside the headlight, correct?

So, pilot light = minimum light

Main beam = medium light???

Dip beam = maximum light???

Main beam and dip are two separate filaments inside the big front bulb. Main beam is for seeing in the dark. You switch to dip when you meet a car at night, so as not to dazzle the driver.

Pilot is the tiny bulb.

Hi everyone...

Ive stoped the final step of restauring my bike for about a couple of months but now it to finish it...

I have all the items i need to do the convertion of 6V to 12V but i have some doubts about conecting cables on the rectifier.
I buyed a small square solid state componet...
Fitted it a heat-sink to help to stay coolled...

This rectifier as 4 conectors...
How can i know witch is what??

Does any one know any other person that as made this convertion or very close to this(in this forum/site or other), so he can help me??
Its the final step but i dont want to blow anything...

Best regards

One of the 4 terminals will be at 90 degrees to the other 3 and identifies it as being on the DC, cannot remember if its the +ve or -ve but playing with a multimeter will tell you. The other DC terminal is on the opposite side of the 90 degree terminal and the remaing 2 are the AC which connect to the Alternator.

Its a positive earth bike unless you have changed this so the rectifier terminal marked + is connected to ground and the -ve to NW.

that drawing isnt right, the offset is positive (earth) the one diagonal to it is negative the other two corners are alternator and it will not work if youre using the original wiring to the switchs as they switch the alternator current. You need the alternator going straight to the rectifier and wire the switchs as simple on off for lights and ignition.
