I ordered a set of pipes (Emgo) for my 68 Bonnie project and they are not symmetrical. The DS pipe down section goes down 2 inches further before it turns back toward the back of the bike than the TS pipe. The TS pipe also has a slight bend about 6 inches from the end. Is the correct for stock unit Triumphs or do I have a REALLY badly made set?

Thanks, Bernie

For design reasons Jack Wickes http://tiger100.co.uk/Jack%20Wickes.html didn't originally make these pipe symmetrical. The timing side pipe tucks up under the timing cover and the drive side pipe has to be lower to clear the primary.

Thanks John. Do you know if anyone builds a set of 1 1/2" chrome pipes (non-crossover) that are symmetrical?

No, but someone else might. Most symmetrical after market pipes for these bikes are 1 3/4" (Cycle Shack).

I found with my BSA that the 1 3/4" pipes without mufflers caused a deep drop out in the midrange. I had to put a small piece of baffle in the pipe and you know how hard it is to keep a baffle in a straight pipe.... The Triumph we built for my son used my old set of crossover pipes from my 72 with the crossover cut off and the holes welded shut and pipe wrap to cover 'em up. That bike ran great without baffles but it was a TR6.

Thanks again.
