Well, with that in mind, will Richrd be driving Miss Daisy?

Just finished reading Lance Armstrong's book (It's Not About the Bike). He mentioned Beech Mountain as a pivotal place for him on the road back from cancer.

OK guys, I have been doing a little map work for Thursday's trip to wheels through time museum. It looks like a 300 mile day but that is broken up with at least one stop down and one stop back. so we are looking at roughly 75 mile stints with a good time being had in the middle. you will also see some great roads along with a couple of short runs on the super slab (sorry not much of a way to totally avoid them). I am sure every one will like 209 from hot springs to I 40 and if every one is ok with it and time permits we might detour on the way back to little Switzerland and ride 226A. I took don on this one last summer so he can tell you how it was (great road).

Dennis it seems to be an ongoing pi$$ing contest with him and the town of Maggie Valley. When I was there in 08 we was told the same thing, that when the season was over he was going to move because he could not work with the town and the taxes was killing him. Hope you are staying warm. We are having record or near record cold down here in sunny Fl for the last 5 days and will be around for another week. So much for global warming ha ha ha

Rich....he's WORST than hobot ever thought of being. He's had WAY to much time alone up there and he now OWNS those twisties.

I'm going to warn everybody they RIDE AT THEIR OWN RISK if they try to keep up with him up there.

hahahahahahahaha...........yee haw....Gordon Gray waiting for spring to get here in NC

Well it sure looks like we will be having a good time this year with some great people :bigt I cant wait for it to start. IS IT MAY YET.

Windy.....just because you SMELL like an old fart....doesn't make you one.

BTW....I hear Don Roe has been camping up on 421 all winter....might better dust off your knee cups and get rid of the centerstand.

Spring's just around the corner.....my B44 is coming together nicely and I'm looking forward to seeing all OUR friends.

Take care...Gordon Gray

just thinking here, all these years, I've never ridden with you, GG. Only seen you on a bike twice. I think something needs to change this year.

Richrd....if all goes as planned I will lead the combined group to the first gas stop. Yes....it will be on a motorcycle.

But...I'm back in the chase van after that. It's as much of a tradition as the ride itself.

Now I might get talked into riding with one of the groups after the last gas stop...but I'll worry like an old woman about the rest of the riders and the chase van.

Believe it or not....I can ride and have ridden those same roads many times. But to put the ride on like I do....I do 800 miles before, during and after and know every rock, bump and cruve by heart.

800 miles....hahahahahahahahah saying that to YOU is kinda funny, I'm not going to get any pitty from you on that one...hahahahah

I do plan on having a bike at Windy's during the week and doing most all the planned rides.

Get there early if you can.....we'll spin a wheel together this year, count on it.

There are SEVERAL people that deserve a place of honor on this 10th running of the Three State. Not sure how to handle that part of it but I'm working on it.

See ya there brother......your friend in NC....Gordon Gray

Hobot and Windy....hmmmm....

On the same mountain?

THAT would be interesting. Never seen Hobot ride, but I've read many interesting posts....If he's HALF as fast as he say's he is I'd love to see them run US58 between Damascus and Mouth of Wilson....from a nice safe HELICOPTER!

Been working with the pin company on the 2010 ride pin. This is just the rough draft but we are getting close.

[Linked Image]

The text will be solid gold colored metal. I wanted to do T-shirts but unless I go back to work soon...that's not going to happen.

In the next few weeks I'm going to ask for a "Roll Call" since Windy and I need to have some idea how many we'll be feeding and when. Nothing in concrete (no pun intended) just an idea of who, when and how long....best guess.

I've heard through the grapevine that some of our friends from the frozen nawth just might make it down for the first time.

You'll never know how much this means to me.....

Take care.....your 2010 Three State Mountian Ride (TSMR) co-host....Gordon Gray in NC, USA
