Excellent Morgan. We've had a few threads lately not only about the decals under the BSA board but appropriate paint techniques, both at an amateur/hobbiest level right through to painting professionally. I think this could serve as an excellent repository for decals. I would nominate Gunk as moderator as he appears to understand more about digital work involved with this stuff. Subject entirely to his desire to take such a task on. For sure we do need a few more techies to help him out though. The man has a paying job he needs to get to as well.

No thanks, but thanks for your support. I'm really not the best at moderating and drawing already takes up a bit of time.
The board should be paint and decals, well, finishing and decals.

Morgan....maybe your original suggestion of a decal AND paint board might be the way to go....i read nearly all posts and boards on here and it seems paint discussions are scattered everywhere....PaulM is also attempting to start a paint code data base :bigt: just my

I heartily recommend Tiger for moderator. He's the only person I know that not only has a "Minimum Level" decal on his beer tankard, but also has all 20 fingernails and toenails painted AND pinstriped!

Awesome! I like the idea of another database for the different BSA paints, colours used by model, year, etc. Decals and the different type and colors of tank badges used by year, colours and Model....I don't want to be forward, but Hooray! Cheers, Tim in Bastrop

This could be a seriously important database. Decals, Painting, and Tank Badges. This would be of great service to those both already familiar with; and those still learning the marque (like myself). Petrol Tank Badges (metal & plastic, Tear drops of both sizes and Rondelles. Colours, dimensions, etc.)and, about the decals (water slide, vinyl, paper, etc.) Proper placement and details by Model on these decal sets. Anyway, I would like to register a "yes." This could dovetail into the colours by Model and Year making a truly handy chart... Good looking out for the Brit bike community! Sorry to go on and on. I look forward to this upcoming soon. My 2 cents. Tim

I for one would like to know more about a colour known as "Mandarin" sort of a medium orange shade that was (that I know of) sold on UK BSA 650 Spits. Could anyone who has the information on colours available for the BSA 650's between 1966 and 1969 inclusive please share a list of some sort; or point those of us who are interested in the proper direction? I am trying to find out how I can sort through the original available palette that BSA used on three specific bikes: the 1966 Lightning Clubman, the '67 Lightning, and the '69 Thunderbolt. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Tim PS: Here are the two I am working with right now. A great guy sold me a proper '67 front end for the one without one on the lift...The '69 TBolt needs a bunch of small items attended to, then she can get painted and decalled. Just wanted to start the ball rolling, somewhat. T

a great combination. been looking for years after the right colours for my firebird 71 and got the name and codes for some but the red candy ive seen is to red and nobody seems to know the exact grey/white for the frame. So for now ive painted the frame in a colour that is very close and found on a gardenchair of all places. the same with the decals ive found atleast 3 different types for the bike but thats easier it depends of US, GB and paint
