I have a 70 tr6. I have 1 crank case bolt missing. I have a leek where the two cases come together. If i want to lift the motor up to clear the frame, so i can put the missing bolt in, do i need to take out all, or just some of the engine motor mounts to gain access to the chase? whats the easyiest way to do this without it being a project and a half? thank you. Hi Dan,

I would say you need to tell us which bolt is missing so we know what you need to do. Without knowing that, it's guesswork. On that basis (guesswork), I would say that you need to lift the rear so remove all except the front mount.

im guessing you cant do it, as when you put in or take out a motor out/in the frame you have to take the rocker box's off to get it to fit, then when the motor drops into place in the frame you put the box's back on.

if the box's are off you might be able to take the top, front and bottom mounts off then loosen the rear ones so the motor swivels , then you might get it up to clear the frame. might have to take the gas tank off to????? depends how low it sits on the frame. its a stock bike?

the 70 tr6 has brackets in the front that allow you to remove the engine without having to take the rocker boxes off.i will get back to you all on what bolt it is. Dan

the 70 tr6 uses front engine plate, "f11356". that way you dont have to remove the rocker boxes to get the motor out. I have removed and installed the engine before. its been a while. I figured I ask before I got going. thank you again. Dan

Dan,

I don't have a '70 TR6 so my book is different. Which actual bolt is it counting back from the front mount going under the bike. The bottom mount is number 6 using my method.
