'72 Norton Commando

My 1972 Combat, purchased in 1978 and a daily rider until I had to lay her down in 1986 to avoid a head-on collision. The bike spent the next 22 years living in garages, sheds and under tarps until it was totally restored this past year (2008). Features include original Dunstall fairing, tank and seat installed by the previous owner in 1974, Mikuni flat-slide carb (TM34), Clubman rearsets, new adjustable isolastics, Excel rims SS spokes and new Avons...needless to say it's great to have her back!!

Photos include before/after shots and post-restoration side shot.

I just received my 2009 BritBike Calendar and what a beauty!! I was very surprised to see my Commando featured on the October page. The caption, however, reads "1970 Norton Commando" GrandPaul, etc....so I feel a correction is in order.

For what it's worth, the caption should read: "1972 Norton Commando". "cmessenk" Chip Messenkopf - St. Petersburg, FL USA

Cheers!
