This is the third-count 'em- speedometer cable that has snapped within 300 miles...and I have no idea why !?!
At first (see earlier posting) I thought that the standard T140 cable was too short meaning it snapped when awkwardly routed...So, this was replaced by the longer 6 ft T150 cbale which went fine until this evening when it too failed ....
Please does anyone know why this is happening ?! Do Veglia speedos eat their cables because the other Veglia instruments fitted to my other Triumphs do not !?!
All the cables I have lost were from lack of lubrication ( very few ). I soak mine with Slick 50. I leave the grease, add the Slick 50. And I lube relatively often. I find it hard to make a sharp enough bend that would snap the cable. I also don't strap them tightly to the frame. I leave some play. HTH

A T150 cable should be made for a Smiths drive at one end and a Smiths speedo. at the other. Ime, they aren't the same as Veglia drives and speedos.
Fwiw, one of my T160's has a Veglia drive ('cos it's got T140 alloy wheels) and (original) Smiths speedo. I've always bought my speedo. cables direct from Venhill - I just tell 'em what I want and they supply it. Never had a problem in over 20 years.
